TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

We require a bright, helpful, committed and adaptable intern to provide daily support to our communications team to carry out the following tasks:

  • All channels media monitoring and reporting - provide a daily press review as well social media monitoring; flagging opportunities for coverage while ensuring the organisation stays on top of relevant sector developments
  • Supporting the team in shaping and developing media materials and campaign content
  • Briefing and debriefing of field workers, helping to build the list of spokespeople available to the organisation
  • Helping with logistical arrangements for media events, trainings, recruitment and association events

Regional Telecommunication Experts - 2 Positions

Objectives of the position  

The Regional Telecommunications Expert provides telecom support to the missions of different Operational Centres of the organization and contribute to the installation of effective and efficient telecom setups. â€¯

Main Responsibilities

Perform in the field support visits / consultancies (80% of the time): â€¯  

  • Audit radio and satellite telecom setup of the missions to advice and support local improvement and compliance to standards.  
  • Support in writing /updating the country specific communication hardware/ telecom policy covering the setup and use of analogic and digital Radiocom equipment (HF and VHF transceivers, antennas, repeaters), portable Satcom equipment (Thuraya, Inmarsat, Iridium, BGAN) and movements trackers. â€¯  
  • Advise the coordination on: â€¯  
  • The choice of most efficient telecom equipment and their configuration â€¯  
  • Identification of the roles and responsibilities of the staff in the mission   
  • Generate /Update the telecommunication Standard Operational Procedures (SOPs) and execute installation of improved telecom systems directly.  
  • Organize and deliver trainings (classroom and on the job) to the logistics staff in order to support the implementation of the policy, SOP and good practices in the country.  
  • Ensure optimal performance of the telecom equipment in the mission: ensure repairs, maintenance and configuration are done according to recommended practices.   
  • A nalysing the current situation in the field, designing, and supervising the installation of improved telecom systems.  
  • Assess local market for availability of quality spares, supplies and equipment; assess the quality of local / regional service providers (i.e. maintenance, repairs, preventive servicing, trainings, etc.). â€¯  
  • Contribute to the empowerment of the field staff in charge of the local support (ITC officers) - identify learning needs and opportunities to cover gaps, lead actions to strengthen the capacity of the staff (through webinars, video shooting, distance training/ mentoring, setup and moderation of community of practice and trainings during field visits). â€¯  
  • Adhere to MSF-OCA Field Consultancy Guideline (ToRs, Reporting). â€¯ 

Duties not specific to field support visits / consultancies: â€¯  

  • Follow-up support request from the field users (e.g. trouble shooting, repairs, configuration). â€¯

Candidate Profile  

  • A minimum of 3 years professional experience involving the technical management of radio telecom infrastructure  
  • Experience as a radio amateur is highly desirable  
  • Previous overseas work experience in humanitarian assistance experience is a strong asset

  • Excellent communicator and stakeholder engager, capacity to build and maintain a network relevant for the organization

Watsan Advisor

The department is made up of a group of generalist Health Advisors (based in Amsterdam and Berlin) and medical and public health specialists (paediatrics, nutrition, water and sanitation, mental health, HIV/TB, etc.) so as to provide expert support in a range of fields. The Manson Unit, a medical unit based in MSF-UK, focuses mainly on support to tuberculosis and epidemiology. The WatSan Advisor will report to the IPC & WatSan team Coordinator

Main Responsibilities and activities 

  • Contributes to the development of OCA mission strategies, objectives, activities and resources with field team, HQ operation and medical support teams.  
  • Provides technical and strategic support to assigned missions from HQ and through field visits. Also, mentors WatSan field staff in assigned missions.  
  • Actively monitors quality of WatSan programmes through reports, (de) briefings, field visits and regular communication with the field and suggest adjustments when required.   
  • May contribute to assessment and/or intervention in emergencies as WatSan Co-ordinator in early phases when in the field   
  • Contributes to the development of relevant tools (guidelines, evaluations and technical support documents), contributing to emergency preparedness and emergency stocks reviews, design/support of operational research projects and development of vision documents.   
  • Gives expert advice and technical support to other specialist colleagues across departments.   
  • Develops and facilitates WatSan staff trainings on internal or external training courses or workshops (HQ or field) and ensures knowledge transfer on new policies, strategies, protocols, guidelines.   
  • Contributes to the development of the pool of WatSan staff in MSF OCA with a specific focus on eastern African region in order to diversify recruitment of specialists.  
  • Explore possibilities of new training sites in Kenya or region and collaborations with relevant institutions.
  • Participates in representing the WatSan team and PHD internally and the organisation externally from a Water and Sanitation perspective.  
  • Initiates innovation projects as well as new product development. In collaboration with supply centres in Nairobi develops WatSan specific assortments.

Candidate Profile 

  • University degree in Water and Sanitation, preferably Public Health Engineering or Environmental Health; Master degree is a plus. 
  • Minimum 3 years field experience with MSF or other NGO in co-ordinator position in the field of water, hygiene and sanitation; 
  • Flexibility to travel and support projects (up to 40% maximum of the job will be spent on project visits);  
  • MSF experience is preferred   
  • Humanitarian operation and interventions in healthcare settings experiences are a must; affinity with the principles and objectives of MSF’s work;

Supply Chain Supervisor - LS013

Main Purpose

Reporting to the Mission Supply Chain Manager, the incumbent shall be responsible for ensuring International and National supply for the mission/project and the associated administrative procedures, and monitor the warehouse stock according to MSF protocols and procedures in order to contribute to the smooth functioning of the mission, ensuring efficiency, accountability and transparency.

Accountabilities

  • Receiving orders from projects, checks if goods are available in stock, places the order with the most sufficient supplier (using the different Green lists) and follow up on the order.
  • Maintain regular contact with suppliers (local) and service providers, transportation agencies, and other MSF sections, updating the list of existing ones and seeking new ones to supply the best product at the best price. Perform and coordinate administrative procedures related to purchases and purchase orders, verifying the compliance of MSF standards and protocols.
  • Control the purchasing procedures; cost and quality control, application and verification of invoices
  • Update prices, asking for quotations and bids to tenders under the supervision of the line manager
  • Determine the quantities of product to buy (volume), taking into account the demand and needs of the mission, availability forecasts, delivery timelines, budget and other relevant factors, in conjunction with the line manager. Manages the reception of goods in the Unifield and keeps the system up to date
  • Update the stock overview and monitor the stock level
  • Periodically check stock levels (physical count), keep track of deliveries, movement of goods, keep informed on price fluctuations, shortages of certain goods.
  • Provide Logistical support for the projects and brief new employees in the Supply department about the processes and procedures.

Communication and Engagement Officer

In close collaboration with the MSF WWTB team, the Communications and Engagement Officer will advance the MSF WWTB objectives by

  • implementing the MSF WWTB communication strategy
  • supporting the consultation process
  • creating and disseminating relevant and effective communications materials

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Communication Strategy Implementation

  • Under the guidance of the PC implement a communications strategy that ensures across the Movement, particularly the field:
  • maximal awareness of the MSF WWTB project, and
  • timely and appropriate updates and feedback with adapted content and methodology according to the target audience.

Consultation Support

  • In coordination with the PC, support developing information packages and consultation tools for use in the conversations, and ensure participants use those tools.
  • Support the organization of the sessions and follow up on information sharing in between sessions.
  • Set up provision feedbacks and elaborate contents after each session of the facilitated consultations.
  • Support communication of consultation sessions to the Movement and maintain updated the consultation communication calendar/agenda.
  • Support the identification and follow-up of participants for each conversation.
  • Monitor feedback on other channels such as the Souk, etc.
  • Set up and monitor the digital engagement.

Content Dissemination Support

  • Prepare and disseminate messages, packages and publications to the Movement and to specific target audience as needed, including compiling and finalising relevant materials.
  • Support prompt and complete responses to inquiries from MSF colleagues regarding MSF WWTB process and plans.
  • Produce project updates for internal use (Steering Committee, IB, Core ExCom, etc.) and keep updated information and documents repositories (website, SharePoint projects dossiers, etc.).
  • Ensure information on the project is updated across Movement dissemination channels (i.e. Souk, MSF International Digest, OCs newsletter, etc.).

Other Communications Support

  • Comms content production support: create, design, edit, and help produce original and adapted digital and print content, such as graphics, infographics, posters, etc.
  • Web support: upload or update webpage content on SharePoint and Souk.
  • Social media support: upload content to MSF social media channels (Yammer).
  • In charge of all translation needs.

  • Bachelor’s Degree.

SKID Deputy Supply Coordinator

Main Purpose

Supporting the Supply Chain Coordinator through delegated tasks and responsibilities, replacing him/her in his/her absence in the coordination of the supply chain activities of the 3 MSF missions in Kenya.

Participating in the definition and implementation of the supply strategies of the 3 MSF missions in accordance with MSF protocols, standards and procedures in order to enable the development of the 3 missions and optimize the impact of the medical projects.

The Deputy Supply Coordinator will spend a significant part of his/her time on the (today 5) MSF projects and (today 3) MSF coordinations around Kenya in order to implement supply strategies, support project supply teams and ensure a good communication between projects and the SKID team based in Nairobi.

Accountabilities

  • Participating actively in the definition and monitoring of annual project planning and budgets (including Emergency Preparation Plan), defining strategies and advising the Supply Chain Coordinator in the translation of the identified needs into objectives, priorities and resources needed for intervention.
  • Defining, monitoring, evaluating and ensuring the implementation of the strategies and overall supply activities on the 3 missions, making adjustments where needed, according to MSF standards, protocols and procedures. This includes guaranteeing of the following:
  • An efficient supply administration and provision of adapted tools to support the different supply activities
  • Standardisation of the supply processes (orders, purchases, warehouse, distribution) used by the 3 missions
  • Stability of supply activities within regular and emergency intervention of the MSF projects in Kenya and manages field visits on regular basis to offer a permanent support to the direct and indirect supply stakeholders
  • Validation of the use of the supply related third parties (suppliers, transport companies, freight forwarders,) proposed by the procurement officers, transport manager, together with the technical referents when needed
  • Planning, supervising and implementing, in close coordination with the HR team, the associated processes (recruitment, training, briefing/debriefing, performance evaluation, detection of potential, development and internal communication) of the staff under his/her responsibility in order to ensure both the sizing and amount of knowledge required.
  • Ensuring technical support to supply teams throughout the mission.
  • Representing MSF in meetings with Authorities and/or other NGOs at the request of the Supply Chain Coordinator.
  • Performing tasks delegated by the Supply Chain Coordinator.
