- Analyzing livestock inputs and products samples.
- Coordinating the dissemination of livestock production information.
- Overseeing the implementation of livestock production programmes/projects.
- Coordinating range planning, management and conservation.
- Ensuring provision of holding grounds services to the livestock traders.
- Overseeing effective and efficient management and preparing work plans and budgets for either sheep and goat station, livestock farm, mobile pastoral training unit, or livestock improvement and multiplication farm.

For Appointment to this grade, an officer must have: -
- Served in the grade of Chief Assistant Livestock Production Officer or in a comparable and relevant position in the Public Service for a minimum period of three (3) years;
- Diploma in any of the following fields: - Animal Production, Dairy Science and Technology, Animal Science, Agribusiness, Animal Health and Production, Farm Management, Apiculture or Range /Natural Resource Management from a recognized Training Institution;
- Attended a Senior Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
- Certificate in computer application; and
- Demonstrated supervisory and administrative ability in work performance and results.

Duties and responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail: -
- Coordinating water supply, sewerage works and pollution control;
- Ensuring availability of water supply and provision of sewerage services; and
- Collecting, analysing data and preparing technical reports.
Requirements for appointment
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have; -
- Served in the grade of senior inspector (water and sewerage0 for a minimum period of three (3) years;
- Three (3) years certificate in technical training from a recognized institution;
OR
- Diploma in either water supply technology or water engineering from a recognized institution;
- Certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution; and
- Demonstrated merit and shown ability as reflected in work performance and results.
Duties and responsibilities
Work at this level will include telephone operation duties: -
- Routine testing of exchange lines and switchboard facilities; and
- Telephone exchange clerical work.
- An officer at this level may also be deployed as in charge of a telephone exchange of one to two (1-2) switch board positions with a maximum capacity of twenty (20) exchange lines and approximately two hundred (200) exchange lines. At the exchange, the officer will be responsible for: -
- Carrying out head set coaching to new entrants;
- Liaising with telephone engineers/technicians on maintenance of telephone equipment/facilities, with accounts section on settlement of telephone bills and with supplies section on procurement of telephone facilities/spare parts and stationery.
Requirements for appointment
For promotion to this grade, an officer must: -
- Have served in the grade of telephone operator I or in a comparable and relevant position in the public service for a minimum period of three (3) years;
- Have passed a four (4) months certificate course for government telephone operators from a government training institute or any other recognized institution;
- Be proficient in computer applications;
- Possess good oral and written communication skills in both English and Kiswahili; and
- Have shown merit and shown ability as reflected in work performance and results.
Duties and Responsibilities
This is the highest grade in the cadre. An officer at this level will handle complex clerical tasks of diverse nature, and may be deployed to be in charge of Clerical Officers within a section or deployed as a Caretaker. Specific duties and responsibilities will involve: -
- Coordination of clerical work in a section; maintenance of general cleanliness and security of buildings and equipment;
- Planning of office accommodation and layout;
- Processing of documents for issue of licenses or certificate under relevant Acts.
- In addition, the officer will induct new Clerical Officers, and supervise and guide staff working under him/her.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, an officer must:
- Have served in the grade of Senior Clerical Officer for at least three (3) years;
- Have passed the Proficiency Examination for Clerical Officers;
- Possess a Certificate in any of the following disciplines: Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Kenya Accounts Technician Certificate (KATC), Kenya Administration and Management Examination (KAME) or any other approved equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
- Be in possession of an ICT certificate and be proficient in Word Processors, Spread Sheets, Presentation and Database; and
- Have shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Implementing, monitoring and evaluating nutrition programs;
- Providing clinical nutrition and dietetic services;
- Assessing nutrition status and making nutritional diagnosis;
- Advocating for the improvement of maternal and infant nutrition;
- Educating and creating public awareness on prevention, management and control of diet related non communicable disease;
- Supporting and managing people living with HIV/AIDS;
- Providing nutrition supplements and therapeutic feeds;
- Monitoring nutrition commodities at facility and community level;
- Calculating patient dietary requirements;
- Providing in-patient nutrition services in hospital;
- Assessing nutrition status and preparing reports for review;
- Training community health extension workers and community health providers on nutrition deficiency prevention and control strategies;
- And following up on nutrition related disease conditions.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:
- Served in the grade of Nutrition and Dietetics Technician III for a minimum period of three (3) years;
- Certificate in Community Nutrition from a recognized training institution;
- Certificate in Computer Application Kills from a recognized institution;
- Registration by the Council of the Institute of Nutritionist and Dieticians (CIND);and

- Undertaking cleaning duties in the area of deployment;

- Must have served as Cleaning supervisor III for a minimum period of three (3) years;

Duties and responsibilities
- An officer at this level will be deployed in a specific Crop production, Land development or Project Management within a ward.
- Further details and responsibilities will entail preparation and implementation of farm business plans through analysis of various enterprises. The officer will also be required to monitor and advise on adoption of agricultural technologies.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: -
- Served in the grade of Assistant Agricultural Officer II, JG ‘J’ for at least (three) 3 years.
- Attended departmental training course in participatory approaches or supervision – Supervisory Skills Management.
- Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
Duties and Responsibilities
- An Officer at this level may be deployed in specific projects areas as crop production, Land development or Project management.
- The Officer may also be assigned a supervisory role over a number of Agricultural Assistants deployed I working units and/or projects. Specific duties will involve organizing and coordinating agricultural activities in the area of deployment.
Requirement for appointment
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: -
- Served in the grade of senior agricultural assistant or in a comparable and relevant position in the public service for at least three (3) years;
- Attended a departmental training course in participatory approaches or supervision; and
- Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
Duties and responsibilities
Work at this level will include telephone operation duties: -
- Routine testing of exchange lines and switchboard facilities; and
- Telephone exchange clerical work.
An officer at this level will be in charge of a telephone exchange of three to four (3-4) switch board positions with a maximum capacity of forty (40) exchange lines and four hundred (400) exchange lines. Specifically, the officer will be responsible for: -
- Supervision of work at the switch board;
- Telephone exchange routine work;
- Preparation of duty/annual leave roster for telephone personnel;
- Liaising with engineers/technicians on maintenance of telephone exchange, equipment/facilities, with accounts section on payment of telephone bills and with supplies section on procurement of telephone facilities/spare parts and stationery.

For promotion to this grade, an officer must: -
- Have served in the grade of senior telephone operator or in a comparable and relevant position in the public service for a minimum period of three (3) years;

Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:
- Served in the grade of Plant Operator I for a minimum period of three (3) years.
- A valid driving licence free from any current endorsements for the relevant class(es) of plant.
- Passed the Occupational Trade Test I for plant Operators.
- Ability to operate one (1) plant of ‘difficult rating’ A and two (2) Plants of ‘difficult rating’ B.
- Attended a Refresher Course for plant operators lasting not less than one (1 week) within a period of three (3) years at the Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized institution.
- Knowledge of the Traffic Act and other related regulations.

- Carrying out practical demonstrations and training farmers on livestock production technologies and techniques;
- Accompanying extension teams during farm visits and farmer training;
- Collecting and collating livestock data and information for gross margins, market access and planning;

- Collecting livestock inputs and products samples for analysis;
- Advising farmers on group formation, construction of farm structures and equipment;
- Preparing and participating in field days and agricultural shows to disseminate livestock production technologies such as construction of livestock housing and structures, milk production, pasture and fodder production and conservation, farm planning, gross margin analysis on farm feed formulation;

An officer at this level will be responsible for the supervision of the design section. The officer will also be responsible for the preparation of tender documents, budget control, and implementation of new working techniques. The officer will be responsible to the principal superintendent (Mechanical) for planning, coordination of technical operations in the workshop, training and staff development and supervision of personnel. At this level the officer will be deployed in the central/regional workshop.

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: -
- Diploma in mechanical engineering (Plant) or other relevant qualification from a recognized institution;
- Served in the grade of senior superintendent (Mechanical) or in a comparable and relevant position in the public service for at least three (3) years;
