Chief Human Resources Officer

Role Description

The selected profile will be responsible for the development and implementation of the HR strategy in support of the overall organisational plan and the strategic direction of the organisation. The CHRO will be specifically responsible for the areas of compensation, talent acquisition and management, change management and performance management, and training and ongoing development of Still I Rise's resources.  
The ideal candidate will also provide strategic leadership to the executive team and  board in terms of the organisation's human resources needs and priorities.

Key responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate, administer and supervise Human Resources activities across all programs and departments
  • Develop and implement operational and strategic HR planning
  • Design and implement the development of HR policies, procedures, and best-practices, in coordination with the relevant departments. 
  • Develop HR forecasts, lead on implementation and monitoring of departmental budget, with ability to provide justifications for budgetary recommendations and/or adjustments
  • Establish and operationalise human resources initiatives that effectively reflect, support, and promote the mission and strategic vision of Still I Rise
  • Develop HR plans and strategies to support the achievement of the overall organisational operations objectives
  • Acting as a strategic advisor to the CEO & executive team, alongside individual teams and departments, providing strategies and critical vision as well as innovative solutions concerning key organisational and managerial aspects
  • Develop comprehensive strategic recruiting & retention plans to meet the human capital needs of strategic goals
  • Develop and implement comprehensive compensation and benefits plans that are competitive and cost-effective
  • Act as referral point for all staff, while advising on the most complex and sensitive concerns and issues and providing tailored solutions
  • Provide overall leadership and guidance to the HR function by overseeing talent acquisition, career development, succession planning, retention, training, leadership development, compensation and benefits globally
  • Support the legal department in handling any claim arising out of employment relationships within SIR

Essential Skills & Requirements

  • A BS/BA degree from an accredited college/university; MBA or MA/MS in human resources or related field is preferred
  • A minimum of 10 years of HR experience, with at least five years of executive HR experience and at least five years of international HR experience
  • Solid understanding of and experience in managing contracts within the Italian labour market and employment laws
  • Ability to quickly acquire knowledge in employment contract-management in different jurisdictions, as well as to navigate issues of international employment (i.e. consultancies).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills
  • Ability to manage budgets and compensation plans

  • Proven experience in recruitment, talent acquisition & retention (platforms, channels, techniques, strategies & best-practices, relevant documentation, etc.)
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations
  • Knowledge of and experience with varied human resource information systems
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Full working proficiency in English and Italian, with at least one additional language amongst Spanish, French, and/or Arabic

 

Fundraising Manager

Key responsibilities:

  • Support the Fundraising Director in developing strategies to maximise donations
  • Work in close collaboration with the Fundraising Director for the planning and implementation of annual budgets
  • Lead the implementation of strategic plans to produce effective actions and achieve income targets across the range of revenue streams
  • Monitor the performance of the various channels / campaigns through KPIs shared with the Management and the team
  • Monitoring monthly budgets, collaborating in identifying reasons for any deviations, giving support in corrective actions research
  • Draft and update Preparing daily/periodic reports on fundraising activities and performance, for internal and external purposes
  • Supervise and facilitate the Fundraising Team through the daily departmental operations and ensure coordinations between staff areas
  • Detect problems and work difficulties in the Fundraising Department,  promoting the identification of solutions, in  coordination with the Fundraising Director
  • Support, and if necessary, Lead the new individual giving development plan for 2022-2023 which includes acquisition and retention of new donors
  • If necessary, ensure the continuity of the activities of the various areas also through an operational role
  • Guarantee the full efficiency of fundraising systems and processes, also with reference to all the technological platforms used, promoting their updating
  • Stay informed on marketing strategies and be comfortable doing research on different sectors
  • Supervise the efficiency of Department expenses, procurement processes and suppliers

Essential Skills & Requirements

  • University degree or master's degree in line with the position
  • At least 5 years of experience gained in the fundraising area and non profit sector, in similar positions
  • Proven experience managing a team
  • Strategic vision and ability to transform strategies into action plans
  • Problem solving and negotiation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven experience in business development, strategic and operational marketing is also considered relevant

Digital Video Creator 

Role Description

The selected candidate will be responsible for creating and editing video assets to use across our digital touchpoints to support our Fundraising and Advocacy campaigns for Still I Rise.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support our Fundraising and Advocacy teams by creating high-quality, compelling, digital first video content to inspire our audiences and pull in new ones, drive brand awareness and acquire new donors.
  • Execute briefs that put our brand into motion and turn ideas into successful scroll-stopping video content for our social media in our tone of voice
  • Produce stunning video content, especially reels, using tools such as Premier Pro, Illustrator, After Effects, InDesign and Photoshop
  • Deep understanding of usage and clear requirements for music rights, footage and images
  • Confident in subtitling our video content
  • Input ideas in preparation of shoots showing clear grasp of our brand and its objectives 

Essential Skills & Requirements

  • Proven background in video content creation within the digital space
  • Proactive, fast and flexible problem-solver with the ability to think strategically and creatively
  • Knowledgeable of the evolving media landscape. We’re looking for someone who is curious and keeps up-to-date with the latest social media trends and platforms
  • Fluency in Digital formats with a great ability to transform creative ideas into premium video assets that spark meaningful conversations and increase brand loyalty, ultimately converting fans
  • Deep understanding of usage and clear requirements for music rights, footage and images
  • Strong understanding of digital platforms, their audience and best practices
  • Great attention to detail together with a strong ability to respect deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment are essential
  • Experience working in a creative agency is preferred

 

Copywriter

Role Description

The selected person will join the Advocacy and Communication department and will be responsible for identifying a creative concept and drafting engaging content.
This position involves working independently when creating copy and in a team to deliver the final product. The copywriter will be a creative, proactive, punctual person, with time management abilities.

Key responsibilities:

  • Creation of new, original copy for (not limited to)  social media posts, articles, website content, fundraising material in Italian and English.
  • Support the Advocacy and Communication department in reviewing and setting up communication guidelines, materials and strategies.
  • Integrate the organization's communication plan with Social Media
  • Retrieving, proofreading and translating from English to Italian content from field programs or other departments (education and fundraising among others).
  • Content optimization (language, tone, message) based on the target audiences

Essential Skills & Requirements

  • A degree in Foreign Languages, Linguistics, Media studies, or similar
  • At least 2 years of experience as a copywriter with a successful track record or portfolio of powerful copy from past working experience
  • Excellent writing skills in Italian and English
  • Deep understanding of storytelling, written social media communication and content performance
  • Ability to write a strong lead 
  • Ability to easily adopt organization’s voice 
  • Ability to write in different styles to communicate effectively with different target audiences

Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Role Description

The selected candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing operational strategies, overseeing and coordinating operations, promoting  organisational culture and vision to ensure shared priorities and organisational short, mid- and long-term objectives are met.

Key responsibilities:

  • Working in partnership with the CEO to create the strategic five-year plan
  • Coordinate and support all directors and translate strategy into actionable goals for performance and growth helping to implement organisation-wide goal setting, performance management, and annual operating planning
  • Communicate results to the CEO, and other constituencies
  • Interconnect goals from departments, teams, and individual contributors by deploying an OKR strategy.
  • Supervise all departments strategies and operations
  • Enforce and implement a SIR’s standards and policies

Coordination: 

  • Work closely with the leadership team to create, implement and roll out plans for operational processes, internal infrastructures, reporting systems and organisation policies all designed to foster growth, profitably and efficiencies within Still I Rise
  • Develop, implement and manage the operational aspect of the annual budget in collaboration with the CEO and Directors

Monitoring:

  • Monitor and supervise internal reports by creating effective measurement tools to gauge the efficiency and effectiveness of internal activities
  • Supervise of org-wide risk assessment
  • Use data-backed OKRs that combine aspirational, qualitative objectives with quantifiable success measurements.

Fundraising and Public Relations:

  • Maintain and build trusted relationships with key donors, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Meet, interact, and present information effectively to potential donors.
  • Represent the organisation at fundraising events and public

Essential Skills & Requirements

  • Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or closely related field which provides  knowledge of the principles, practices and administration of business and nonprofits.
  • 4+ years of  work experience directly involved with operations, business, development, finance or related areas.
  • Strong employment and/or service history that reflects leadership and managing high level operations and motivating complex teams while holding them accountable.
  • Strong analytical abilities, solid decision making skills, logical interpretations, and to review and interpret financial statements and budgets.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated professional and effective working relationship.
  • Strong skill set in prioritising, strategizing, meeting deadlines and following up on assignments and roles and responsibilities with minimum supervision.
  • Reporting skills, detail-orientation, excellent organisational skills.
  • Decisive, accountable and creative person, able to work well under pressure and in  a challenging, ever-changing environment.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the non-profit and development sectors; related governmental agencies and community development. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, human potential and service.
  • Fluent knowledge of the English language written and oral, Italian is a plus.

 

Team Lead (TL), Kenya

Key responsibilities:

Management and Coordination:

  • Working closely with the Executive Director on passing on the Organisation’s vision and mission, within the program, whilst ensuring topmost quality at all times.
  • Lead, chair, and coordinate Program Support Unit (PSU): admin, HR, logistics, finance, education, safeguarding and security.
  • Provide oversight to programme and operational activities, team building and facilitate creation of external partnerships. 
  • Work with PSU to lead monthly/quarterly planning sessions in accordance with proposed work plans, and budget forecasting. As lead, propose strategic realignment strategies. 
  • Supervise and provide guidance to staff, partners and consultants ensuring adherence to planning and priorities.
  • Effectively represent SIR and International School of Nairobi at different forums/levels.

Financial Management:

  • Lead Program Support Unit (PSU) to conduct regular monitoring and reporting on financial management aspects: timely forecasting, preparation and execution of procurement plan, budget vs actual, spending analysis and establish cross linkages with work-plan progress.

People and Culture:

  • Lead on recruitment and talent management of the staff. 
  • Ensure robust implementation of HR strategies such as performance management and monitoring systems. 
  • Cultivate and maintain a collaborative and safe workplace environment (WALK the TALK).
  • Work closely with programs, operations, and other technical units to ensure well-coordinated, streamlined, and professional communication.

Knowledge Management:

  • Adapt and promote an integrated implementation approach by coordinating and cooperating with other thematic areas (safeguarding, education).
  • Provide strategic oversight towards documentation and sharing of knowledge and emerging best practices. 
  • Support strategic units (programs, advocacy, grants) to develop proposals to advance impending priorities.

Essential Skills & Requirements

  • 5 years of working experience in the nonprofit sector, including managing teams and providing financial and operational oversight.
  • Experience of working in and across project management cycles.
  • Experience of working through community participation and/or approaches.
  • Good IT skills including use of MS Office.
  • Fluent knowledge of the English language (written and oral).
  • Certification of SPHERE humanitarian standards will be a plus point
  • Kenyan national or in possession of full residency status.
