MCK INDUSTRIAL PLACEMENT PROGRAMME CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
The Media Council of Kenya in partnership with recognised media houses is rolling out an internship programme for the Financial Year 2022/2023 that is geared towards providing journalism students with practical work experience before graduation and to prepare them for the job market.
The programme will offer internship placement opportunities to journalism students across the country starting December 2021.
Duration of the Internship
The internship will be for a period of Three Months (3) 3rd Septembet - November 2022. The Media Council of Kenya will provide up to KShs 15,000 for the trainees’ upkeep.

Requirements
1. Final year students from a recognised university or middle-level college.
2. Letter of application from the student.
3. Recommendation letter from the university or college.
4. Academic transcripts.
5. Valid Student Identification Card or Registration Number.
6. Evidence of published work or broadcast will be an added advantage.
Placement
1. Beneficiaries will be placed in recognised media organisations under the following areas of specialisation:
2. Editorial, Radio, Television, Digital and Corporate Communications.
Eligibility
Individual journalism students who meet the above requirements are eligible to apply.
Universities or middle-level colleges teaching journalism and media studies are also eligible to apply on behalf of the students.

JOB DETAILS:
The internship will support activities around sustainable fashion and the identification of relevant entry points for UNEP in supporting the initiative and its campaigns.Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
The internship is for a duration of 6 months. The internship policy of UNEP states that: “In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, applicants may be requested to undertake the internship remotely in view of constraints regarding visa issuance, international travel, and access to UN premises. Applicants must be willing and prepared to undertake the internship remotely for a part or the entirety of the internship.” For this internship it is entirely remotely based.

Responsibilities
• Under the direct supervision of Chief, Public Advocacy and Communication Section, the intern will:
• Assist in implementing the Sustainable Fashion initiative by supporting the section head and manager of the initiative in doing research and strategic analysis.
• Support outreach activities and the promotion of the UNEP sustainable communication playbook and fashion campaign
• Assist in the development of presentations and communication materials for advocating and promoting sustainability in textiles in international events, meetings or conferences (COP, Paris Fashion Week)
• Assist in the UN Alliance on Sustainable Fashion regular meetings
• Support the updating of the UNEP fashion communication website and the knowledge management database of the related projects
• Support the drafting of attractive case studies on fashion communication and review of UNEP materials of the topic
• Support in developing the newsletter for the UNEP textile community and in updating the general UNEP textile value chain website

• A degree programme in environmental studies, communications, media studies, international relations or journalism and other social sciences, as well as in the areas of information and knowledge management, or related field.

Digital Marketing Internship

We are looking for a self-motivated and dynamic individual to fill the position of Digital Marketing Intern.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Developing monthly content plans for marketing campaigns whilst maintaining an adherence to brand guidelines.
• Rolling out above the line and partnership driven marketing opportunities.
• Developing campaign concepts for positive brand awareness.
• Developing creative visual solutions following the process from concept through to production.
• Conducting research on market trends, brand audiences, competitors and end-to end consumer journey to drive engagements and conversions
• Working alongside marketing to craft online and offline marketing (including emails, social media ads), video assets and photography assets for content marketing
• Leading creative projects including but not limited to photo shoot/ video shoots for product ads, including on-shoot management
• Analyzing digital data to draw key recommendations around website optimization
• Conducting social media audits to ensure best practices are being used
• Maintaining digital dashboard of several different accounts
• Preparing emails to send out to customers

REQUIREMENTS
• Must have achieved at least a B+ or equivalent in high school
• An undergraduate degree with a minimum 2nd Class, Upper Division
• Strong organizational and time management skills ability to adhere to deadlines, multi-task and be able to prioritize
• Entrepreneurial spirit with demonstrated creativity & innovation in business
• Ability to learn quickly and manage workload in a demanding environment
