Key responsibilities
Fund Raising

• Develop strategies, implement, and monitor a comprehensive fundraising plan to develop and expand Faraja’s mission and objectives.
• Cultivate and strengthen existing donor relationships and actively pursue prospects by using multiple cultivation techniques including one-on-one meetings, events, and other fundraising touchpoints.
• Demonstrate and foster respectful donor cultivation and stewardship within the team and the organisation.
• Research, maintain and develop a regional and local list of individuals, foundations, and corporate prospects in the region.
• Identify and develop relationships with corporate entities that adhere to Faraja’s gift acceptance policy.
• Manage the grant funding process including the application and drafting of proposals and all necessary follow up.
• Organise fundraising events that will raise visibility of and funds for Faraja’s program.
• Primary point of contact for funding, donations and fundraising event inquiries.
• Provide regular reports on Faraja’s programs and services with relations to fundraising activities and budgets.
• Develop and implement an effective resource mobilisation and sustainability plans and ensure alignment with Faraja’s direction.

Communication
• Increasing awareness and generating wide uptake of Faraja services
• Manage the day-to-day social media platforms.
• Ensure consistency of messaging in all fundraising communications.
• Develop fund-raising publications, communications materials, such as press releases, donor care letters and reports for Trustees.
• Ensure engagement with and communication to Faraja Donors, Partners, and stakeholders is carried out professionally and within expected standards.
• Ensuring good management and maintenance of a strong positive Faraja brand reputation.
• Ensure Faraja’s profile is enhanced through active media presence.
• Ensure there is a clear communication strategy which maximizes opportunities for advocacy, fundraising and builds Faraja’s reputation.
• Establish strong trusted Donor, Partner and Stakeholder relationships that can be leveraged to help deliver the vision of Faraja.

Database Management
• Maintains a complete and accurate database record of donors and funding received.
• Ability to use research to identify donor prospects from Faraja’s current database.
• Organise the donor database to ensure it responds to the Donor management needs of the Organisation.

Person specifications
• A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Project Management, Social Development or Health Systems Management, or other relevant degree
• Master’s degree in a relevant field is added advantage
• A minimum of three (3) years’ work experience in the Not for Profit sector, in resource mobilisation, donor compliance and management, marketing, public relations, events management, developing sustainability strategies. Monitoring Evaluation Reporting and Learning, strategic networking, collaboration and partnership management, and records management
• Must have had an executive career in community development, a health or clinical setting, community sector or like-minded Non-Governmental or Government Institution.
• Must possess excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
• Must demonstrate ability to work effectively with a diverse range of individuals, flexibility and adaptability.
• Must possess planning, coordinating, delegating and organising skills.
• Must demonstrate ability to be a team player, build and manage relationships both internally and externally.
• Must be analytical and demonstrate the ability to synthesize large amount of information for reporting and proposal writing purposes.
• Must be proactive, creative, innovative and willing to take initiative.
• Must possess negotiation and time management skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be proficient in information technology skills including virtual meeting platforms, MS Office Suite, internet, social media platforms, data processing and security.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
The role is required to lead Generation Kenya’s effort to grow the employer pipeline, generate placements and secure employer income
• Grow the base of employers recruiting from Generation Kenya’s programmes.
• Oversee all efforts to sign up employers across Kenya.
• Deliver high rates of interview conversion rate from strong employer engagement, plus feeding back learnings to the curriculum and instruction (C&I) (both local and global) for ongoing improvement.
• Increase engagement per employer i.e., ‘more recruits per employer’ and increased rate of repeat hiring from strong employer account management.
• Develop strong relationships with 25-50 strategic ‘at-scale’ employers (hands on).
• Support Generation Kenya with best practices business development structures to optimise impact for key stakeholders – youth, private and public sectors.
• All the above feed into securing at least 80% job opportunities per program to support Generation Kenya’s growth plans while achieving market-leading rates of employment outcomes and social impact.
• Grow employer income to cover 50% of operating costs over 3-5 years.
• Build channel partnerships as routes to market.
• Build the lead relationships with ecosystem partners like Microsoft, securing vacancies through them as an effective route to market.
• Build and lead relationships with other ‘lead generating partners such as KAM and KEPSA, etc.
• Develop a framework / tool for vacancy projections / predictions.

JOB DETAILS:

Job Responsibilities
• Supervise the technical teams and cooperate closely with the Chief of Party (COP) on all program and technical matters.
• Ensure deliverables and achievements are completed in a timely manner and in full support and compliance with OEF and USAID requirements
• Coordinate developing and implementing the project’s technical strategies, adapting global and regional technical resources and tools as needed for the Somalia context.
• Liaise with and facilitate work planning and regular program and technical meetings for all consortium partners
• Identify technical assistance needs and training resources among project staff, partners, government counterparts, and beneficiaries and coordinate technical assistance provision
• Promote sustainability of project activities with effective networking, coordination, and linkages to other programs, partners and counterparts, capacity building of project staff, and institutional strengthening of implementing partners and community-based organizations
• Represent the project in external stakeholder meetings, conferences, and coordination platforms
• Serve as the primary program representative in the absence/temporary leave of the COP.

Qualifications and Experience
• Master’s degrees or higher in economics, social sciences, international development, management, policy, public administration, political science, law, international relations, or a related discipline.
• Or Bachelors degree in related field and 10 years equivalent experience accepted in lieu of Masters.
• Minimum 8 years of experience managing programs of a similar focus and complexity, on topics such as community building, decentralization, conflict mitigation, local governance, public engagement, and/or institutional capacity-building programs;
• Proven ability to work effectively with USAID mission staff, host country counterparts, and international donors; with strong emphasis placed on experience developing and maintaining working relationships across a multi-stakeholder environment;
• Solid understanding of USAID rules and regulations governing project compliance, procurement, and financial management preferred;
• Experience working in Somalia and/or the Eastern Africa region preferred;
• English proficiency is required. Knowledge of Somali language is desired;
