Main Purpose of the Role:
This is an initial one-year apprenticeship program, whereby the successful applicants for the program are taken through intense theoretical and practical on-the-job training aimed at equipping them with skills required by Ophthalmic Assistants.
Once successful in the training, the trainee shall then be redeployed in the patient service centers in any of our facilities to provide assistance to our clinical and patient care teams.
Knowledge and Experience Required
• KCSE certificate attained not later than 2019, with a minimum grade of D+.
• Computer literacy.
• Previous work experience in a hospital shall be an added advantage.
Key Skills and Competencies Required
• Good communication and Customer Care Skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Demonstrated ability to uphold and align oneself with the core values of City Eye hospital.
Terms of Engagement: 1 year initial apprenticeship contract and permanent upon confirmation

JOB DETAILS:• The internship is for a minimum of three (3) months, with the possibility of extension up to a maximum of six (6) months, depending on the needs of the Unit. Interns work five days per week (35-40 hours), under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned. The Internship is UNPAID and full-time.
Responsibilities
Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual’s background as well as the internship period. Under the direct supervision of the Associate Expert in the Marine and International Waters Unit and it is expected that his/her responsibilities will fall within one or several of the following broad activities to support the implementation of activities related to Marine and Coastal Ecosystems:
• Support the reporting officer in internal processes such as drafting, extending, and amending legal agreements with various project partners.
• Assist with the review of project reports
• Assist in the preparation of workshops, meetings, and other events to achieve programmatic results
• Undertake targeted desktop research to compile stories, facts, data, and other pieces on marine and coastal ecosystems (e.g. kelp, seagrass, seaweed, and coral reefs)
• Support relevant communication tasks relating to the coral reef portfolio
• Support the Marine and International Waters team by taking meeting minutes and other administrative tasks
• Map out potential sources of funding for the reporting officer and assist with desktop research to obtain financial support for projects
• Support other tasks or activities as required and in accordance with the Intern's interests

JOB DETAILS:• Develop, write and edit marketing and communications materials, including press releases, blog posts and social media content
• Promote communications and marketing materials through appropriate social channels
• Track analytics and create reports detailing successes and failures of communications campaigns
• Ensure that all communications and marketing material aligns with brand standards
• Maintain digital media archives including photos and videos
• Work with communications team members to conceptualize and implement communications strategies and campaigns
• Respond to media inquiries and perform media outreach to achieve brand placement in publications
• Develop escalation protocols for managing communication crises, should they arise
