Field of duties and responsibilities
Digital Engagement

• Consolidate information from the Global and National working groups to create a content calendar and content strategy.
• Create graphics, edit audio and video on an ad hoc basis to support the programmes and internal service departments.
• Assisting in management of YWCA’s external communications and advocacy initiatives
• Create and disseminate digital reports for relevant stakeholders as required.
• Keep an updated media contact list
• Updating new content, editing and posting on social media and website as required.
• Preparing templates for presentations and formatting reports.
• Help in the implementation of internal and external communications strategy.
• Initiating digital campaigns to support the programmes and advocacy initiatives of various projects.

Overall Purpose Of The Job Reporting to the Deputy Digital Editor, this role is responsible for making sure content is fi t for publication on web and that it meets all the quality requirements needed for a smooth user experience.

Job Responsibilities:
• Work with Desk Editors to identify content for the paywall and subscription newsletters;
• Regularly update the website with content based on audience consumption patterns and interests;
• Make time-sensitive and small-scale adjustments to stories, correcting minor errors, and ensuring headlines are catchy and key words are relevant;
• Work with the Intake Editor to ensure Thematic Desks produce premium content as per the set targets;
• Work closely with the Radar Desk to make sure breaking news stories are published on time with important updates and background for developing stories;

Objectives of the internship
The communication intern will provide support in the implementation of all the communication activities in five countries (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia and Madagascar) targeting audiences that are both external (for organisational profiling) and internal (information and technical support needs of colleagues).
The communications intern will report and receive technical guidance from the Senior Regional Communications Officer based in the East Africa office located in Nairobi, Kenya, with whom (s)he will be working closely together with.

Main duties and responsibilities
• Provide support in the implementation of communications plans for the East Africa region and Madagascar.
• Provide support in the implementation of communication activities and campaigns to raise awareness of the organisation’s work, projects and programmes to various local, regional and international audiences.
• Develop, schedule and publish monthly content (visuals and compelling captions) for social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn) to raise TdH NL’s visibility online.
