JOB DETAILS:
The United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) is the UN headquarters in Africa and the representative office of the Secretary-General. We support programme implementation of the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT) globally, as well as other UN offices in Kenya, by providing administrative, conference and information services (www.unon.org). This post is located in the Division of Conference Services, Publishing Section, at the Nairobi duty station. Under the supervision of the Deputy Chief of Section, the incumbent is responsible for the following duties:
Responsibilities
• Conceptualize and develop design proposals for review by clients by converting ideas, statistical information, illustrations, photographs, raw text, vector graphics, mapped images, and other graphic elements into finished files to be output as PDF for digital printing.
• Enhancing and colour profiling the Photographs/Text/Graphics/Artwork in Photoshop and Illustrator, convert data in info-graphics in Illustrator and some patchwork artwork in PhotoShop.
• Prepare Excel format files to be converted to charts and infographics, flow the data from excel format to Illustrator files for creation of info-graphics
• Prepare files for final production and Outputting of material and create Print PDFs or interactive PDF for uploading to the websites of UN clients.
• Ensure the format and the quality of the artwork files are up to standard before exporting to a print or digital PDF.
• Complete daily production statistical information as required as daily data outputs of layout and design and Perform other duties as required by the section's Chief, and Supervisor.
• Independently undertake design assignments, for a variety of UN meetings (e.g., major conferences, observances, events, and campaigns, etc.); during the desktop publishing work to ensure minimal errors occur.
• Ensure the format and the quality of the artwork files are up to standard before exporting to a print or digital PDF.
• Perform other related work as required.

Education
• High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Further training in graphic design industry or related graphics arts study from a recognized national institution is desirable.
• Passing the Global General Service Test (GGST) is a prerequisite for recruitment consideration in the General Services and related categories in the United Nations Secretariat. Successful passing of the Administrative Support Assessment Test (ASAT) in English at the United Nations Headquarters (UNHQ), Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG), United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) or International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) may be accepted in lieu of the GGST. The GGST is administered to applicants when required before the administration of a written assessment and/or interview.
Work Experience
• A minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience in digital design publishing or related areas is and proficiency in Adobe Creative Suit packages as InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop is required.
• Experience in web design is desirable.
• One (1) year or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.
Languages
• English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required.

Job Description
The Principal Corporate Communication Officer is responsible for the following functions:
• incorporating online tools and in-person networking to create relationships and ultimately build the Commission’s brand, both online and off line;
• writing blog posts, articles, newsletters, communications materials, and material for social media channels;
• marketing through social media– creating, managing and growing the Commission’s presence through blogs, Twitter, Facebook, and other strategically relevant online properties;
• planning event– attending industry events and planning meet ups for KNATCOM’s leadership;
