Procurement Category Manager
Your responsibilities

• Ensure Health & Safety is an integral part of all job duties and is implemented in accordance with Health & Safety standards and advisories
• Support the development of category sourcing plans to address full spend coverage for the assigned categories.
• Manage the Procurement of goods and services in accordance with local and global category strategy, as well as applicable policies, procedures and specifications.

• Utilization of the relevant online procurement tools as required i.e. Contracts Management, Supplier Claim Management and Price Change Request (PCR).

Driver & Plant Operator
Role Purpose
Responsible for the day-to-day provision of driver and plant operator services. Particularly the Operation of farm tractors, vehicles and other machinery involved in transportation and delivery services as required. Plant machinery operations including Lifting, Loading/off-loading, Ploughing, Mowing, Excavation, and Towing operations as directed. Delivery and collection of goods from one point to another as directed. and to undertake the daily maintenance checks on assigned vehicle(s) and equipment.
Accountabilities

Essential Functions
• Operating Vehicles, Mechanized Devices, or Equipment -- Operating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts, transportation vehicles, tractors, farm trailers, mowers, and other machinery as per your driving license endorsement and only when appropriate to your training and grade of the post.
• Support Farm Operations -- Day to day transport of materials, equipment, green waste, planting media, media pots and boxes, farm produce, spares, fittings, water bowsers, among other items from one point to another point as required.
• Day to day machinery operations such as plant shredding, compost lifting, media sieving and other operations as will be required.
• Responsible for delivery, loading and off-loading of materials, spares, among other goods in the farm and/or stores when required.
• Offer driving services in and out of the company when required to do so, which should be on company purpose on agreed routes and within the company regulations and policies.
• Repairing and Maintaining Mechanical Equipment (basic) – Undertake daily routine maintenance checks on the assigned company tractor(s), vehicle(s) and machinery. Servicing, repairing, adjusting, and testing machines, devices, moving parts, and equipment that operate primarily on basis of mechanical principles e.g. oil, fuel, radiator fluid, tire checks etc to maintain the vehicle.
• Perform Preventive Routine maintenance (SAMACO) on tractors, vehicle(s) and any other assigned machinery, identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and ensure reliability, efficiency and thereby accomplishing planned targets within budget.
• Reporting -- All technical aspects of the vehicle and detailing on specific jobs must be reported to the line manager.
• Report and prepare timely for service of the tractors, loaders, lawn mowers, shredders, media screeners and other assigned machines for increased efficiency of operation. Timely reporting of mechanical failures of the assigned vehicle(s) and/or machinery to the line manager.
• Identify recurrent problems from assigned machines/tasks and provide practical solutions with a view to meet set targets and ensure conformance with accepted company standards. Pass to the supervisor any factors affecting operations, observed, or commented upon.
• Investigate ideas to improve existing systems or to overcome equipment or process failure and increase the efficiency of maintenance works; making any suggestions which may improve efficiency and provide practical, cost-effective transportation solutions.
• Inspection --Perform risk assessment for the assigned company machines and assets and ensure they are safe and comply with required standards. Assess materials being loaded, off-loaded or transported, to identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustment and to secure load on the vehicle during transit or lifting.
• Performing General Physical Activities -- Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs in handling, Loading, offloading, installing, positioning, and moving materials and objects to and from the vehicle and from one point to another as per instructions.
• Policies and standards conformance; You must Ensure all statutory requirements and Company Policies & Procedures (including but not limited to) those specified in the Employment Handbook, renewal of driving license, road license and speed governors, certificates of calibration, vehicle insurance, highway regulations, permits relating to the job function is completed in an accurate and timely manner.
• To ensure and maintain satisfactory the safety of the vehicle or equipment and that of self and others, other equipment, vehicles, and plants and remain aware at all times of the responsibilities for own Health and Safety, that of those near you and any other persons who may be affected by the operations under your responsibility or control. You must Comply and Ensure Compliance with Company Environmental Health and safety policy (HSE) while executing your duties and promote its awareness of among staff under your supervision e.g. use of PPEs and safety belts.
• Always ensure adherence and compliance with the Phyto-sanitation, GSPP regulations and ISO standards in all activities/tasks.
• Maintenance of Hygiene and general cleanliness – You must ensure the assigned vehicle / equipment and the working area to be on a frequent, regular basis cleaned and kept neat.
• Responsible in Maintaining of Hygiene and general cleanliness in the farm by appropriate transport and disposal of waste to designated disposal points.
• Responsible in keeping the lawns clean by regular grass mowing.
• Communicating with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates -- Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
• Conduct Toolbox meetings with colleagues to discuss safety and methods of works.
• Offer support to other related works in the engineering department allocations.

• Shall be responsible for identification and qualification of suppliers.

Description
Duties:
Facilitates smooth entry of USG personnel and VIPs through border entry points and international airports (primarily Jomo Kenyatta International airport (JKIA). Prepares and types documents and forms for shipments in and out of Nairobi personal and USG property. Undertakes follow-ups for documents in various GoK agencies. Works under direct supervision of the local Customs & Shipping Supervisor.

Education
Completion of high school is required.
LANGUAGE: English Level IV (Fluent, Speaking/Reading/Writing) is required (This may be tested). Kiswahili Level III (Good working knowledge, Speaking/Reading/Writing) is required.

More Details on Experience
Three years of administrative, freight forwarding, and airline/travel agency experience is required. Knowledge of airport passengers and cargo handling is required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Must be proficient in Microsoft suites
• Must possess a valid driver’s license (Class B, C, E)
