Overall, Purpose Of This JobThe Medical Scientific Liaison will be responsible for establishing Janssen Medical leadership for all products within the portfolio. The focus will be on our innovative products by establishing Therapeutics Area and disease strongholds through the generation and dissemination of high-quality scientific data in line with product value propositions to internal and external stakeholders. Medical affairs input, using our Credo as an ethical compass, will be a major contribution to launch excellence for new products.
The Responsibilities & The Impact YOU Will Have
Medical affairs Strategy and Operations
• Define the country medical affairs strategy and plan, including evidence generation, data communication and medical authority engagement plans, ensuring strategic alignment with the NEMA/EMEA region.
• Collaborate with local teams, in the planning of Medical Affairs activities, specifically the identification and assessment of unmet needs through relationships with external partners, and in the execution of defined plans.
• Drive and lead evidence generation plans and execution in the country.
• Ensure appropriate dissemination of scientific data to educate medical, scientific and regulatory leaders.
• Provide scientific input to regulatory, market access, commercial and other functions where medical expertise is required.
• Participate in the develop the overall long-term strategy for the respective portfolio growth, business partnerships and “roadmap” for medical activities.
• Ensure operational excellence of the medical affairs budget in the country.
Customer Relationship Management
• Represents the country medical and scientific interests in internal and external forums across various partner groups including but not limited to key medical authorities scientific societies, Technical Working Groups, Patient advocacy groups etc.
• Develop and maintain a contact network with Leading Specialists. Engage Medical authorities and investigators in scientific activities and clinical studies where applicable.
• Develop and implement an External customer facing plan in close collaboration and coordination with other functions including: Medical Education, GCO, HEMAR, Commercial.
• Through scientific interactions, gain valuable insights into treatment patterns, and scientific activities in the therapeutic area and provide strategic input to the company Medical Affairs Plan/ business decision-making.
• Proactive and reactive communication of medical scientific data in a fair and balanced fashion to Leading Specialists and broader external health-care related audiences:
Drive Medical Education Activities
• Identify/support/educate speakers.
• Build Medical Education programs with scientific third parties.
• Drive robust Advisory Boards in collaboration with Medical Advisor/Regional Medical Head.
• Provide technical support to company Sales Representatives in terms of training and capacity building.
Safety And Risk Management
• Safety reporting, safety input, medical issue management and risk management.
• Share and broaden medical and scientific knowledge with regular attendance at key scientific meetings, conferences, training sessions and/or preceptorships.
• Continuously update knowledge of products, patient’s treatment trends and clinical activities and studies within the therapeutic area and patient`s treatment trends in the region.
• Identify evolving scientific concepts with future clinical implications.
Compliance Responsibilities
• Ensure safety reporting requirements (timely AE/PQC reporting) as set out in company policies and SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) are met and, where applicable, appropriately managed when planning projects, developing materials, implementing projects and contracting vendors.
• Ensure HCC and legal requirements (Fair Market Value, Transfer of Value rules, Promotional Materials rules) are fully understood, appropriately managed and, where applicable, complied when planning projects, developing materials, collaboration with contracting vendors.
• Report spontaneous unsolicited AE/PQC & specials situations from ALL sources within 24 hours or the following business day and support where requested in conducting follow ups.
Qualifications
Required
• Medical Doctor, or PhD (if local requirements permit).
• More than 5 years’ experience in clinical medicine and /or research.
• Knowledge of therapeutic areas with ability to interact with relevant KLS.

• As an advocate for community health services represents Living Goods at technical and other fora including national level technical working groups and conferences and manages relationships between LG and other stakeholders.
• Engage implementing partners, donors, and other stakeholders during partnership engagements and donor visits to Living Goods.
Qualifications & Experience Required
• Degree in Medicine/ Public Health with clinical / research experience.
• Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience with three (3) years managerial level.
• Experience in Public Health, Community Health, or a related field is an added advantage.

• Under the direction of the CDC Country Director, the jobholder serves as the Division of Global HIV and TB (DGHT) Western Kenya Pillar Associate Director, a senior scientific and technical advisor for direct implementation of activities to agency officials, host country Kenya, and implementing partners.
• Provide medical, clinical and technical leadership and management oversight to this multi-million-dollar project with HHS/CDC, the Kenya Ministry of Health (MOH) partners, as well as those funded by the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) Kenya, with particular emphasis on HIV/AIDS and TB care, treatment and prevention program activities in Western Kenya.
• Initiates, coordinates, and provides clinical and technical leadership for HIV care and treatment and prevention activities in 10 Western Kenya counties, including 2 national hospitals.
• Lead a team of 20 senior and mid-level public health specialists and indirectly influences the work of additional technical staff across two CDC offices in the country for DGHT and the PEPFAR programs.
• Represents CDC on the PEPFAR Interagency Management Team, the body charged with deciding PEPFAR policies and overall interagency program direction and priorities, with an annual budget of nearly half a billion dollars; and is the principal advisor to the senior Ministry of Health leadership on HIV and TB service delivery in the country.
