JOB DETAILS:
Job Purpose:
The purpose of the Distribution Centre Operations Manager is to support the Manager Warehouse & Distribution from an operational perspective, day to day management of the operating facility, Receiving, Picking and Dispatch schedules.

Roles & Responsibilities:
• Ensure full legislative compliance of Health & Safety within the Distribution Centre
• Ensure the area is well presented (clean, tidy, and orderly) supporting the Distribution Centre Manager's requirement to have a well-presented Distribution Centre.
• Ensure daily checks of All machinery and equipment are completed, recorded, and actioned if necessary
• Ensure a smooth operation including picks are delivered to the dispatch team according to the load schedule and activity and times are recorded accurately.
• Ensure damages and loose items process is adhered to as well as introduce ways to reduce occurrences.
• Develop, implement & review policies and procedures to provide guidelines on warehouse operations
• Manage receiving and dispatch errors and correct the system to rectify, investigate picking errors and take necessary action to reduce and eradicate future repeats. implement & review policies and procedures to provide guidelines on warehouse operations
• Working with the receiving Manager ensure storage space and stock management (FIFO) best practices in the warehouse
Participation in the preparation of the annual budget for the Distribution Centre
• Manage & monitor the departmental budget by managing actual costs
• Manage & support the receiving and dispatch managers ensuring their performance and development
• Collaborate with the loss control team, and develop strategies to minimize shrinkage
• Develop, implement & review policies and procedures to provide guidelines on warehouse operations
• Collaborate with the Human Resources Department representatives to deliver on the people management agenda
• Working with inventory/planning prepare operational schedules for Receiving/dispatch andpicking
• Supporting the investigations regarding customer issues on Receiving and dispatch as well as undertaking investigations on picking errors.
• Prepare reports as may be required by the Distribution Centre Manager and develop reports to help manage all operations within the Distribution Centre.
• Plan his team allocation across the picking dept. Manage Absence, Sickness and Holiday in accordance with company procedure ensuring full cover is achieved to facilitate the delivery schedule. (Support the Receiving and dispatch Managers with their planning and execution)
• Plan and prepare Distribution Centre for stock counts
Manage Order team to ensure stock availability and achieve 98.5% case fill for available stock on hand

Minimium Requirements:
• Degree in Supply Chain or Purchasing or Business Management or related field
• Certification in supply chain management is an added advantage
• 5 years of experience in Warehouse Management with over 200 employees
• Experience handling multinational warehousing contracts MUST
