JOB DETAILS:
The Consultant’s duties and responsibilities will include the following:
• Carry out a comprehensive visual communication needs assessment of the Judiciary in line with the Judiciary Communications Strategy and visibility goals and recommend visual communication tools and models that respond to the identified needs.
• Using the assessment findings, gather data for the development of visual communication content using various data collection tools, including photography, videography, etc
• Create and edit visual communication content from the Judiciary’s programs, new initiatives, events, successes, etc., to be disseminated to the public. These include (i) short infomercials; (ii) launch concepts; (iii) documentaries; (iv) live streams, and (v) recorded content for television and radio.
• Present the visual communication materials developed to the Judiciary and IDLO for validation before dissemination to the public.
• Translate the approved visual communication materials into formats that can be imported into the Kenya Judiciary Academy (KJA) e-learning platform.

The Consultant should own and be willing to work with their professional video camera that matches/is close to the following specifications:
• High-definition camera with a minimum quality of 4K full frame
• Camera with a robust raw file as well as MP4 formats for easy storage and editing
• Wireless video transmitter to facilitate the use of lapel microphones
• The camera make needs to be a Canon C 300 Mark ll or Zenmuse X9-6K Camera Gimbal Combo or equivalent
• The video camera should have a 3-axis gimbal, plus an array of modular monitor, focusing, and control components 3-channel FIZ lens control unit
• The DJI Ronin 4D 4-Axis uses the Cine-Core 3.0 system to support internal recording of Apple Pro-Res Raw, Pro-Res 422 HQ, and H.264 video
• Other features include a 3.0 image processing system with ACES workflow support beside a 3D LUTs and RED colour science

Deliverables
An Inception report detailing the understanding of the assignment, methodology, and timelines
• Raw presentations of the visual communications content developed, including at least two informercials, two launch concepts;2 documentaries, two live streams; and two recorded contents for television and radio.
• Conversions of visual communications content for compatibility with the KJA e-learning platform.
• Access all archived visual communication materials and data sources such as photographs, videos, recordings, etc.
• An assignment completion report.

Duration
The consultancy contracts will run for six months, from November 2022 to April 2023
Job Requirements
Education
• A bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communication, Public Relations, or other relevant disciplines from a university recognised in Kenya.
• A master’s degree in any of the above fields is an added advantage.

Experience
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in visual communication.
• Demonstrated experience in conducting communication needs assessments and developing communication materials that respond to the identified needs.
• Demonstrated professional experience in visual communication, including developing visual communication content, digital information management, photography, videography, and graphic design.
• Demonstrated experience in managing digital information for institutional/corporate digital platforms.

Technical competencies

• Professionalism in engagements with institutions and partners.
