IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by section 26 (5) of the Energy Act 2019 hereinafter referred to as the Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Energy declares a vacancy in the office of Chairperson to the Energy and Petroleum Tribunal, herein after referred to as the Tribunal, and invites applications from suitable qualified persons for the said position
The applications shall be addressed to the Chairperson of the Energy and Petroleum Tribunal Selection Panel pursuant to section 26 (1) of the Act within fourteen days of the publication of this Notice.
In addition to the qualifications specified in Paragraph A, the applicant shall also be qualified to be appointed as the chairperson of the Tribunal if that person is qualified to be appointed as a Judge of the High Court of Kenya and possesses at least five years' experience in energy and petroleum matters
TERMS OF SERVICE:
The chairperson of the Tribunal shall hold office for a period of three years and shall be eligible for re-appointment for one further term. .

QUALIFICATION FOR APPOINTMENT AS CHAIRPERSON OF THE TRIBUNAL
A person shall be qualified for appointment as Chairperson of the Tribunal if that person:-
• Is a Kenyan citizen;
• Holds a degree in a relevant area from a university recognized in Kenya;
• Is a member in good standing of the relevant professional association, and
• Meets the requirement of leadership and integrity set out in Chapter Six of the Constitution

Manual application SHALL NOT be accepted.
Each application should be accompanied by:
I. A detailed curriculum indicating the names and contacts of three referees,
II. Clear scanned copies of the relevant academic and professional certificates, testimonials and other relevant supporting documents, and
III. A scanned copy of the national identity card or passport.
NOTE
Shortlisted applicants shall be required to obtain and present at the interview valid clearances from the following bodies:-
(a) Kenya Revenue Authority,
(b) Higher Education Loans Board;
(c) Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission;
(d) Criminal Investigation Department, and
(e) Credit Reference Bureau.
All applications shall be emailed to the Chairperson of the Energy and Petroleum Tribunal Selection Panel so as to be received on or before 5.00 p.m. on the 22nd May, 2020
