TO BE SUCCESSFUL YOU'LL NEED:
Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma in Technical Education from Kenya Technical Trainers College.
• Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma in Tailoring and Dressmaking (Degree in Fashion and Design will be an added advantage).
• 5 years’ experience in similar position.
• Knowledge of effective training techniques and adult learning theory will be an added advantage.
• Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form in both English and Kiswahili.

Skills and Abilities
• Excellent oral and written communications skills
• Ability to manage and hold confidential information
• Very high attention to detail, and ability to handle multiple projects successfully.
• Proficient in MS Office 365 applications.
• Ability to work with an ethnically and culturally diverse population.

• Position will mostly be based in Mombasa Kenya with frequent travel to other locations

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Support Instructor Onboarding

• Support the C&I team in the delivery of in-person onboarding for SMO instructors.
• Facilitate in-person training sessions on technical aspects of the SMO Curriculum, such as prioritized technical sessions, labs and assessments.
• Collaborate with the C&I team and Program Risk to identify instructor strengths and potential areas of support in the delivery of technical content.

Support Instructor Delivery and Assessment of SMO Technical Content

• Review technical sessions, plans and assessments with Generation instructors, clarifying important content, key messages, and behaviors to look for in participation performance.
• Facilitate question and answer sessions with SMO instructors about technical content in the curriculum.
• Promote alignment across SMO instructors in administering assessments by defining quality standards for sewing products and samples.
• Identify critical operations that may arise or are defined by employers for alignment with C & I and delivery to meet industry standards.
• Support instructors to clearly communicate quality standards to participants
• Support instructors to identify quality issues in sewing products, communicate feedback to participants and create opportunities for participants to try again.
• Collaborate with SMO quality assurance officers to deliver any additional technical support to SMO operators.

Prepare Materials and Machines
• Ensure requisite materials for program delivery are distributed to respective
• Ensure Machines are checked by instructors and are in good working condition.
• Ensure instructors complete all material preparations meeting standards and timelines.

Build Expertise within the SMO Programme
• Collaborate with the Senior Manager Curriculum and Instruction to understand Generations methodology, the structures of the SMO curriculum, the basic guidelines for effective instruction in Generation classrooms.
• Collaborate with the SMO Quality assurance officers to align on technical standards for the SMO Programme with instructors.
• Participate in meetings with the C&I team and or other generation stakeholders to align on and problem solve any challenges related to the delivery of the curriculum.
• Develop a transition plan to eventually assume greater responsibility for the technical training and development of new SMO instructors.
• Learn and adopt best practices and industry standards for Sewing Machine Operators in partnership with employer partners and industry experts.

Expansion of Programme Portfolio
• Support the identification of new roles within the apparel industry and support with activity mapping to identify skills Gap that will lead to the development of new programmes and roles.
• Any other responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time
