Tax Analyst, Data Management

The Tax Analyst Data Management role is vital in supporting the region with data management which includes collecting, keeping, and using data securely, efficiently, and cost-effectively with a data within the bounds of policy and regulation so that they can make decisions and take actions that maximize the benefit to the organization. The role also supports the stakeholders to maximize the use of available data through automations, Tax assurance, reporting, data analytics.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Support country tax teams and product managers as detailed below;
• Provide assurance that all Transaction Processing (TP) systems are charging relevant taxes in line with local regulations across the 15 African markets.
• Understanding how various taxes are applied and computed in transaction processing systems (TPs).
• Carrying out integrity checks on Tax transactions and balances from TP systems to ensure completeness and accuracy
• Support system implementation through provision of requirement specifications, UAT and Post implementation validation on Tax.
• Drive automating of Tax reports
• Tax issue resolution
• Support tax audits.
• Support group regulatory reporting on tax e.g. FATCA and Canadian tax.
• Developing and implementing tax process improvements
• Develop and monitor tax compliance processes
• Preparing and updating pan-Africa tax dashboard; summarizing potential tax risks in various markets and highlighting possible tax audit issues.
• Desktop tax compliance reviews to check the quality of underlying calculations for indirect tax obligations, assisting countries to proactively identify issues for resolution.
• General administrative support to finance teams in Africa, Africa tax team and the Africa GFS team.

• Lead to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank’s Conduct Principles
• Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
• Exercise authorities delegated by the Board of Directors and act in accordance with Articles of Association

• Chief Finance Officers – Africa Region
• Financial Controllers – Africa Region
• Tax managers – Africa Region
• Transformation and Technology Operations (TTO)
• Product managers
• GFS Team

Qualification
• University Degree preferably Computer science, BBIT or BCom and at least 5 years hands on experience in a busy IS/IT department within a commercial business environment.
• Professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA or CFA.
• DCAM Certification

Technical Competencies
• Strong IT skills particularly in databases and ERPs.
• Understanding of Tax regime in Africa.
• An understanding of the Bank’s various accounting and reporting requirements.
• Knowledge of numerous office automation software and products.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills
• Thorough analytical skills
• Ability to work independently.
• Good communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
• Good team working and motivation skills to achieve superior performance
