Christian Aid has been working in Nigeria since 2003, and currently works in the areas of Democracy and Good Governance, Health and Human Development, and Humanitarian, Sustainable Livelihoods, and Resilience.
We are seeking a young, dynamic, budding creative with an interest in using his/her talent for social good to provide freelance services to Christian Aid.

Role purpose
The role will provide a chance to build skills and gain experience in Communication for Development with access to programmes in Democracy and Good Governance, Health and Human Development and Humanitarian and Sustainable Livelihoods, Gender Justice, Tax Justice, Universal Health Coverage, and Climate Change.
The freelancer will provide hands-on support to deliver the social and digital media plan, both at the country and project levels. He/she will support the Nigeria country programme to deliver ambitious and fast-moving communications, ensuring that our work is created in formats that can be communicated effectively to key audiences through a range of activities and channels. The individual will create content that will support both corporate and programme communications
S/he supports the communications team in sourcing, selecting, editing, creating, and optimizing content which will be disseminated on the Christian Aid website, social media channels, and appropriate external channels.
S/he will create videos, photo stories, graphic designs, and audio-visual materials ensuring we meet visibility among donors, government, community, and other stakeholders by promoting high-quality content in a timely fashion.

Tasks and deliverables
• Design and produce engaging multimedia content for social media engagement based on the agreed social media plan.
• Manage Christian Aid’s social and digital media presence in accordance with the brand of the organisation, ensuring that all content is in line with our tone of voice and conveys the appropriate messages.
• Grow and maintain an active social and digital media presence for Christian Aid, seeking new ways to expand our primary audience base.
• Maintain a database of varying digital content that meets the needs of various audiences and purposes. Through this, gaps in content should be identified, highlighted, and created in accordance with others as is required.
• Produce videos, photo stories, and other digital resources for internal and external use on various platforms – including short videos for SM, websites, etc (testimonials, stories of need, activities). These will be both for visibility and programmatic purposes, including awareness creation and advocacy.
• Design graphics for print and digital materials as needed, or support the engagement and supervision of vendors to deliver on design and production.
Person specification
The successful individual must have some background and/or interest in innovative and engaging multimedia digital content creation, ranging from memes, explainer videos, short videos, infographics, animations, posters, and others based on the needs of the various identified audiences. The individual must be a self-starter and have the ability to work effectively under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.

Essential
• Apt photography and filmmaking skills
• Ability to use Adobe tools (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc) to design graphics.
• An eye for design and graphics creation
• Able to assimilate high volumes of content quickly and optimise for production and dissemination use
• Experience in social media and content management
• Excellent written communication skills
• Attention to detail and ability to organise work in a manageable manner
• Willingness to explore and learn new ways of working, given the fluid nature of the job.
• Good storytelling skills
• Self-motivated young individual who seeks to learn and get experience in the development sector. Exhibits high levels of confidence and can deliver within stipulated timelines
• Able and willing to adapt to work schedules and timelines

Desirable
• Knowledge and skill in animation making software is an added advantage
• Working arrangement **
• He/she will be required to deliver on specific deliverables each month. You will have access to Christian Aid’s creative cloud, and other essential work tools.
• S/he may be required to travel with the team for content gathering trips to project locations
Remuneration
• This will be agreed with the successful individual on the basis of the specific deliverables and KPIs per week
• All travel, production, and content gathering costs will be covered by Christian Aid
