JOB DETAILS:
Sisi Sote' Senior Product and Programme Lead
What you will do
• Coordinate inputs from technical experts, including design researchers, user experience designers, software engineers, system architects, copywriters, brand strategists, gender and health experts and others. You don’t need to be an expert in all of these domains, but you need to know how to get them to work together to achieve a shared vision.
• Drawing on insights captured from these experts and from girls themselves, you will articulate a clear and inspiring vision for new products that have a distinct value proposition and USP in the sector and work with our fundraising team to secure new investments in this product or products.
• Lead partnership-development and relationship management with leaders at key stakeholder organisations in Kenya, including Triggerise, MyDawa, Jumia, PSK, MSK, DKT and others.
• Develop and own a programme plan and budget for this 18-month programme and make sure we deliver on time and within budget.
• Work with our Development team to manage the relationship with our donor, Merck for Mothers. Make sure the Development team is equipped to manage expectations and keep the donor up to date on all developments.
• In your role as Product and Programme Lead, you will be responsible for managing the inputs of a variety of staff members within Girl Effect. While you won’t be responsible for their professional development, you will work with their managers to address any performance related issues.
Who you are
• Digital Product Design and Management experience is essential. You have several years of experience (at least 4) in senior roles in the tech sector or in ICT4D
• Experience working on projects that use Human-Centred Design (HCD) and iterative, collaborative and participatory approaches to developing new products and services (offline or online) is essential
• Experience leading or playing a significant role in managing contracts and collaborations with software developers and ICT experts. Experience with agile methodologies would be a bonus.
• Experience working in the field of sexual and reproductive rights (SRHR) or on gender equality projects is preferable
• Strong interpersonal skills, particularly around partnership-building, are essential to this role as we will need to forge partnerships with a broad range of organisations within the international development and sexual and reproductive health sectors
• You’re an independent self-starter who is able to motivate a team, articulate a clear vision and lay out a clear plan to achieve that vision
• You believe in the power of working directly with young people to understand what they need and to make sure their voices are heard
• You understand the importance of access to frank, uncensored information and youth-friendly services when it comes to matters of sex and believe that adolescents and young adults have a right to exercise control over their own bodies and make their own decisions when it comes to family planning.
• You have at least a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (computer science, international development, public health). While candidates with Master’s degrees are desirable, experience will count more than education in this role.
