International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) in Accra/ Ghana

Contract duration: 09/2018 — 08/2021

As a federal enterprise, the Deatsclre Gesellsclraft for internationale Zusammeaarbeit [GIZ] GmbH has been commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development [BMZ] to support KMPTC in building its organisational competences and institutional capacities.

The project is seeking a Senior Regional Adviser for the component: "Stakeholder Engagement and strategic partner development'
Key tasks of the Senior Regional Advisor are the support to the KAIPTC in developing and implementing a partner management and demand-driven stakeholder engagement approach (with a regional outreach).

This is a local recruitment, yet we strongly welcome applications from Experts beyond the Republic of Ghana. However, the laws of Ghana apply. All needed requirements in regards to work/resident permits are to be respected.

Responsibilities
Management and advisory services

• Advise the KAIPTC in the implementation of a demand—driven stakeholder engagement approach to engage strategically with regional continental and international partners;
• Manage international, regional and local short—term experts within the component.
• Responsible for preparation, implementation and follow—up of Workshops. Meetings, Trainings, etc.

Networking and Knowledge management

• Develop ready—to—use strategies and concepts. including guidelines, manuals and procedures in line with the project's knowledge management strategy;

Required qualifications, competences and experience
Educational Qualification & Work Experience

• Masters/MSc or doctorate in Political or Social Sciences,Organizational Development. International Relations, Marketing or related fields;
•  7-10 years‘ professional experience, with at least 5 years‘ professional experience in a comparable position with links to stakeholder engagement, cooperation management or related fields;
• Excellent knowledge of the APSA and the AGA policies and organisational structures;
• Work experience with the African Union or a Regional Economic Community / Regional Mechanism (e.g. ECUWAS) preferable in the field of peace and security, is a strong asset;
• Excellent writing and communication skills in English is required. Good knowledge of French and/or German would be desirable;
• Ability to thrive and develop relationships in fast paced, collaborative, and ambiguous environments;
• Very good working knowledge of MS Office.
