Requirements for appointment
• Served in the grade of Principal Structural Assistant or in a comparable and relevant position in the public service for at least three (3) years;
• A Diploma in Civil Engineering or Building or its equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized institution;
• A construction technician certificate Part III; or its equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized institution;
• A Higher Diploma in Civil/Structural Engineering or its equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized institution;
• A wide knowledge and experience in all matters related to preparation of drawings of structures and/or civil works;
• Attended a project development and management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
• Attended a Strategic Leadership Development Programme lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognized institution;
• Shown administrative ability by being conversant with government procedures; and
• Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assisting in the formulation of administrative and operational procedure for provision of complimentary services for efficient production
• Handling, storage and retrieval of structural, civil and other public works drawings.
• Development of technical information and standards necessary for improved work performance.
• Advising on deployment of structural assistant staff and being responsible for the overall training and development of this cadre.
• In charge of drawing office, equipment and supply of materials.
• Allocation of accommodation, checking of drawings and bending schedules prepared by staff working under him/her.
