JOB DETAILS:
To provide technical leadership and management of day to day sponsorship operations, implementing sponsorship strategic initiatives and projects, coordinating with Global Centre and Support Offices for quality sponsorship at all levels including sponsorship field services, sponsorship programming and sponsorship systems of World Vision ministry in Kenya.The position holder must be able to live out and communicate World Vision’s Christian ethos and demonstrate a quality of spiritual life that serves as an example to others.
Major Responsibilities
• Technical leadership 35%
• Contribute to the National Strategy and Operational plan development ensuring that strategic intent and plans of sponsorship are integrated
• Provide timely technical leadership to community engagement and sponsorship program (CESP) and related staff.
• Lead the successful development, elaboration and roll out of all Sponsorship Operations plans in the National Office.
• Impart appropriate mentoring, coaching and supervision in order to equip, motivate and empower staff in Sponsorship Operations.
• Ensure that personal and professional development activities, including performance management, training and mentoring activities are successfully carried out.
• Ensure Sponsorship operations in WV Kenya are aligned to the Partnership standards.
• Develop/update the Registered Children (RC) projections and plans and contribute to office growth plans
• Manage organizational risks related to sponsorship operations.
• Manage rollout of Partnership Sponsorship initiatives within World Vision Kenya.
• Support the consolidation of a learning culture - based upon evidenced based best practices and industry standards - to enable program staff to achieve and/or surpass established targets and standards.
• Program Quality and integration 25%
• Ensure quality focus and feasibility in the development, design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of Sponsorship operations interventions in integrated child development
• Collaborate with other technical programs (TP), national functions to ensure that sponsorship is adequately and appropriately integrated.
• Ensure timely reporting and tracking of performance indicators to the NO, NO Dashboard, Board, Region and WVI
• Ensure that these interventions are designed and developed not only in alignment with a fully integrated three track ministry approach but also in compliance with Minimum Sponsorship Programming standards;
• Lead the provision and/or establishment of needed tools, methodological approaches, technical assistance, training / capacity building, DME support and accompanying business processes to ensure that program interventions in Sponsorship achieve or surpass Sponsorship Operations objectives
• Lead the successful development, elaboration and roll out of implementation strategies and operational guidelines in response to Sponsorship operations priorities;
• Provide technical support for the start of new, ongoing and transitioning programs.
• Support the use of the standardized Registered Children monitoring tools in all APs
• Verify quality of design documents to ensure step data is included in determining interventions to address gaps in CWB among the RC.
• Use monitoring data for decision making at the National level
• Contribute to baseline/ evaluation planning and quality products
• Contribute to step data analysis, interpretation and utilization of findings for management and decision making
• Ensure development of Sponsorship Monthly Management Reports and provide data for Child Well Being Annual Report
• Ensure that Business processes, standards and policies are developed in coordination with other WVK entities that support program interventions for Sponsorship are aligned with WV and other relevant standards.
• Ensure that all staff within the Sponsorship Unit meet or exceed basic professional requirements and conduct themselves in accordance with WV policies and principles
• Ensure Sponsorship Officers, System Operators and the Child Wellbeing Facilitators promote integration of Sponsorship and other sectors.
• Ensure that APs have the appropriate sponsorship systems and processes in place
• Strategic Engagement and partnership Management 25%
• Planned externally to WVK engagement including support offices to position WVK for sponsorship growth.
• Engage with key internal stakeholders, including other WVK departments, WV entities, Support Office and Global Centre representatives.
• Coordinate implementation of sponsorship initiatives – Sponsorship 2.0, Sponsorship in Programming (SIP), TFE (Transformed Field Environment) and approved tools for sponsorship operations.
• Manage on-going communication with GC, SOs and Regional Office including information exchanges and regular reports as per established agreements.
• Manage documentation to profile the office sponsorship initiatives providing beyond the standard reports to enhance donor excitement and retention.
• Develop and maintain good external relationships with key national organizations and networks that have Sponsorship operations to position World Vision Kenya as a credible and influential actor in the country.
• Capacity building and talent management 10%
• Collaborate and enhance capacity of other technical program managers to support effective sponsorship management
• Support the development of a training calendar for the NO, Regional and AP staff.
• Provide orientation to the new staff on Sponsorship operations.
• Identify and grow sponsorship team for excellent sponsorship management
• Ensure coaching and mentoring for NO, Regional and AP Sponsorship staff on Sponsorship operations.
• Implement other sponsorship trainings (SBT, TFE etc.)
• Others (5%)
• Participate and contribute in committees and task forces e.g. Senior Management Committee, National Disaster Management Committee, Risk Committee
• Perform any other duty as assigned by the supervisor or Designee
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• The position holder should have a Master’s degree in Development/Social Studies, Management, Business Administration, Rural Development, Health, and Livelihoods/Food Security or related fields.
• They must have a minimum of 7 years’ experience with regards to Sponsorship Programming and/or the Project management: 5 of which must be in management.
• Training or certification in Portfolio and/or Project Management with accredited institutions will be an added advantage
• A thorough understanding of all areas of project management cycles in a complex, international development organization especially in development and Relief Projects.
• The position holder must be a result orientated leader who can manage and satisfy multiple, donor and other stakeholder demands; keen on details and agile to grow the unit
• Ability to build capacity of staff on relevant technical fields
• Strong budgetary and financial management skills.
• Proficiency in English both written and oral.
• Computer knowledge including Microsoft office (Word, Excel, power point etc.)
• Good interpersonal, organizational and management skills
• Ability to solve complex problems and to exercise independent judgment
