Senior Manager, SAP Systems
JOB PURPOSE STATEMENT
The Senior Manager SAP Systems role is to plan, organize, and manage staff and overall operations that facilitate the stable operation of the bank’s ERP and HCM (Human Capital Management) systems and day to day support. This includes developing, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing SAP ECS -ERP, (HCM, MM, FICO) Success Factors, Fiori and Renewal including related applications and system integrations. In collaboration with external vendors, system experts and information security experts the Senior Manager SAP Systems will schedule and direct activities to resolve software and service problems within the SAP ERP and HCM platforms in a timely and accurate fashion.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & PERCENTAGE (%) TIME SPENT
• Ensure that all the SAP ERP and SAP HCM applications are properly managed and achieve optimal uptime, efficiency, compliance and cost containment. This includes infrastructure, integration and application. 50%
• Lead the technology efforts in all SAP ERP projects, providing oversight on Technical design, Integration and solution development. 20%
• Diagnose complex problems accurately and timely; evaluate and develop alternative courses of action; recommend and/or implement creative and effective solutions; document results. 10%
• Flag areas having inadequate DR, work with Risk and work with IS towards mitigating actions where applicable to enable business operations if BAU fails (specific to SAP ERP/HCM). 10%
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with business teams, vendors and other key stakeholders; serve as resource for technical expertise and advice on strategic priorities and projects. 10%
MAIN ACTIVITIES
ERP Management Strategy
• Reviews policies and procedures regularly to ensure compliance with guidelines
• Work with SAP Global to implement an ERP Management and support framework that is applicablethroughout the organization
• Evaluation and selection of new technology to support new products and services for ERP/HCM components.
• Create strong relationships at regional/global level within the IT community to ensure maximum leverage of resources / solutions to support local requirements.
Business Continuity Planning
• Contribute in the development and updating of a Business Continuity Plan for the IT operations on the supporting infrastructure and software for Integration and BPM of the bank
• Provide and execute detailed Disaster recovery plans for supported critical applications
• Liaise with the Head of Applications, Head of Infrastructure and other internal business units for maintenance and deployment of the BCP
Demand Management
• Understand, anticipate and influence business demand for services. This includes but is not limited to Operations, Incidents, Problems, Projects and Change Requests.
Capacity Management
• Ensure that the bank’s SAP environment and Business Process Management resources are right-sized to meet current and future business requirements in a cost-effective manner.
• Performance analysis of measurement data, including analysis of the impact of new releases and integration requirements on capacity
• Performance tuning of activities to ensure the most efficient use of existing infrastructure
• Understanding the demands on the service and future plans for workload growth (or shrinkage)
• Capacity planning of storage, computer hardware, software and connection infrastructure resources required over some future period of time in consultation with the Infrastructure Head
Change Management
• Ensure that all changes are approved at Initiation
• Review and recommend Solution architecture. Ensure that all solutions developed and deployed are in line with the Enterprise Architecture standards
• Manage delivery of ERP components for Projects and Change Requests, ensure that the acceptance criteria as defined in the requirements document is met
• Enforce adherence to release cycle, simultaneously improving testing processes
• Provide necessary inputs to the Change Approval Board to aide in decision making on change approvals and deployments
• Analyzes, plans, designs and implements Application projects in accordance with Bank’s requirements Service Portfolio and Service Management
• Ensure all SAP Components are defined in the Service Catalogue
• All ERP/HCM artefacts have an SLA with underlying OLAs with support partners
• Continuously assess application service request and work towards automating routine tasks
Manage Application lifecycle
• Accountable for resolution of Incidents, Problems and Service Requests for managed services within agreed SLA
Availability Management
• Develop and manage a Business Continuity Plan in order to guarantee continuation of services at all times.
• Plan, install, support, maintain, upgrade and implement changes on the managed Systems (including the bank’s middleware and the respective Operating systems and Database platforms) to ensure that the service provided by these Systems is within the agreed SLAs.
• Analyze, design, develop and implement the requisite solutions for issues assigned.
• Continuously research on the evolving technologies and best practices and identify interventions that the bank should adopt.
• Ensure incidents are escalated and reported as expected and the knowledge database is updated with quality input.
• Liaise with the Product owners, process stakeholders and the EPM department across the group to identify opportunities for process improvements and product enhancements.
• Manage and provide test environments while maintaining an accurate inventory of the same.
• Pre-emptive risk assessment (RCSA) with subsequent application of authorized interventions; review and implementation of Audit requirements and recommendations; Monitor the security of all business systems and ensure that the security standards and access controls are maintained.
• Liaise with vendors and other partners to ensure maximum benefit for the bank at all times.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
• Degree holder in IT from a recognized University (min – 2nd class upper or equivalent)
• 5-6 years’ experience hands on experience with SAP Application systems, preferable SAP.
• 2-3 years management experience in a similar role.
• Relevant Technical Training in SAP ERP Systems
• ITIL Intermediate and other relevant professional qualifications in ICT field.
• Project Management Certification: PMI or Prince 2
• Proven knowledge of banking operations, operations in business units and business impact analysis.
• Experience in Management of Third party support providers
