About The Role
The person will be responsible for legal & regulatory compliance as well as risk management in relation to the trading companies; reviewing laws and regulations applicable to the business and will also serve as a business partner for the HR & Finance Departments.

Key Roles and Responsibilities
• Advising the Commercial and Product teams on legal & regulatory issues relating to LendTech’s products/services in all markets, including potential risks and measures that can be taken to mitigate such risks related to the products to avoid disputes and losses.
• Research regulatory issues relating to LendTech’s products/services in all markets and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, contracts, and company policies.
• Give proactive, prompt, and proper legal & regulatory advice to the management and user departments and keep them informed of the latest legal and regulatory developments as well as best practices.
• Drafting and review of commercial IT and Telecommunication contracts
• ESG compliance and sanctions monitoring in countries that LendTech operates in.
Qualifications
• Hold a Bachelor of Laws university degree in law from an accredited institution. A Master’s Degree will be an added advantage.
• Certificate of admission to the role of advocates of the High Court of Kenya. Must possess a current practicing certificate
• 5-7 years post-admission work experience, with a minimum of 2 years at a top-tier commercial law firm in Kenya within the corporate or commercial department, and in-house experience in a fintech or financial institution.
• Strong contractual skills with demonstrated experience with drafting, negotiating and reviewing commercial-IT contracts.
• Desired experience
• Experience in the IT industry, banking, or financial services will be an added advantage.
• Experience in handling cross-border commercial transactions including projects, corporate/ M&A, commercial contracts, litigation, ESG compliance, data privacy, sanctions, and investigations.
• Experience working with international teams
