ABOUT THE POSITION
CI Africa Field Division (AfFD) is looking to recruit a visionary and strategic Senior Director of Conservation to set the strategic direction for, and lead execution of the Division's strategies to deliver high—impact and high—quality conservation projects. As a member of the Division’s Senior Management Team s/he will be expected to deliver high-impact and high-quality outcomes of all the Division's country, continental. Multi-country and multilateral programme initiatives and ensure strong linkages between country programs and regional and global strategies and targets.
S/he will be expected to build a clear vision breakthrough programme strategies and Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) frameworks, to ensure the efficient and optimal delivery and reporting on conservation outcomes across the Division. Additionally, s/he will be the point person for the dissemination of best practices to programme teams in Africa and other regions, ensuring training and analyses to best implement agreed measures of success, and directly supporting to develop key partnerships. S/he will also be expected to build strategic scientific and technical capacity in the field develop key partnerships with public and private organizations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategy Development: Set up the Division's Conservation vision and high-level objectives for Sustainable Landscapes and Seascapes. nature's contribution to climate mitigation, and ocean conservation in Africa to enable the organization and the division to achieve Cl’s organizational goals; working closely with the SVP and the VP Programme & Partnerships, support the articulation, development and implementation of Africa's Divisional and Country Programme strategies; lead the development of monitoring. documenting and reporting frameworks and systems for the Division’s Country and Regional Programmes, focusing especially on their tangible conservation outcomes and impact; identify key target audiences, influencers and partners to drive the Division's Programmes and engagement objectives; align and ensure an integrated programme approach across the Division.
Strategy Implementation: Ensure effective delivery of the Division's Conservation Strategies. with emphasis on working with AfFD and Arlington-based Division-Heads to ensure coordination and alignment with Cl's Southern Cross and other strategies; ensure an efficient and integrated programme approach that demonstrates impact and reflects Cl's initiatives and projects as appropriate to local conditions; actively engage cultivate and manage internal and external relationships to ensure traction for Cl‘s Programmes and projects
Fundraising and Partnerships: Collaborate with the Division's Management Team. Country Directors. and other senior leaders within Cl global, in the development of relationships with partner in the public and private sector that are key to Cl's success; develop proposals and project concepts to mobilize programmatic financing from public/private sources, foundations and other partners or secure pro—bono services for programme efforts.
People and Programme Management: Oversight of relevant staff. budgets, programmes and budgets; focus on ensuing high-impact and high-quality conservation outcomes, capacity building and programme quality control; ensuring knowledge sharing between programme staff across the Division
