Our client an international oil trading company is seeking to recruit for the position of Senior Accountant as per the below specifications;-

Job Position: Senior Accountant.
Jab-type: Full-Time.

Reporting to: Chief Finance Officer (CFD).

Job Purpose:
The senior accountant will oversee accounting activities in the company and will responsible for ensuring that the company's 1000 uniting activities are managed through a robust and proactive reporting system and provide accurate financial reporting insights to enable comprehensive decision making.
The senior accountant will be expected to work with other departmental heads and staff on financial matters that are out across the entire organisation and the larger finance department. He or she shall be expected to make recommendations for systems improvements across the finance department upon and oversee the implementation of the changes across the department upon approval .
Main Responsibilities
Financial Accounting and Reporting
• Maintain internal controls, safeguard and coordinate all audit activities
• Create, coordinate, and evaluate the financial programs and supporting information systems of the company
• Optimize the handling of banking relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance the company's cash positions
• Oversee budgeting and the implementation of budgets so as to monitor progress and present fins el metrics both internally and externally where relevant
• Safeguarding Of the company's assets,
• Ensuring total compliance with the regulatory requirements particularly on regarding establishing efficient fiscal structures and filing of tax returns including NHIF and NSSF returns as well as ensuring these are done on schedule
• Preparing and presenting monthly parts for further analysis.
• Lead in the documentation of all financial books and Records
• Keep abreast of changes in financial regulations and station, including in the oil industry, and ensure compliance with statutory obligations to minimise risk of litigation financial and reputational loss
• Lead the accounting department in the preparation and monitoring the business's annual budgets and sizes with external
• Implements audit findings with a view of improving the businesses financial performance and position
• Participate in identifying financial risks and threats pertaining to financial processes and systems of the organisation.
• Coordinates, prepare and submit external audit.
Other Duties
• Perform similar duties as deemed it for the proper execution of their duties and any other duties as delegated by the Chief Financial Office

Qualifications
• Qualified Accountant [ACCA or OPA or equivalent and degree in related field e.g. Accounting or finance
• 7 years working experience in the oil industry with a minimum of 2 years in a Senior accounting position
• Advanced MS Excel skills, experience in using an accounting system ERP system
• A solid background in developing and enforcing internal and financial controls
• Good knowledge of IFRS and Tax Management under Kenyan tax laws
• Good knowledge of accounting in multi-currency financial environment encompass accounting and reporting on foreign currency IDOU
• Interact with diplomacy and tact and follow-upon requests in a timely and Ancient man
• Demonstrate written and verbal communication
• Self-motivated, results focused and able to work with minimal supervision
• Experience of working with people from diverse backgrounds
