Overview
Key Responsibilities:
1. Actively participate in the development of professional, effective, and appropriate psychosocial programming, including direct individual and group counselling support, as well as expanded mental health services.
2. Provide professional and confidential one-on-one and group counselling services to participants with personal and social challenges such as conflict, parenting, SGBV, death/grief, and dealing with post- traumatic stress disorder and other.
3. Lead mental health awareness raising and/or sensitization campaigns among refugee populations in the community and on campus.
4. Co-facilitate engaging trainings on mental health and psychoeducation for RefuSHE staff, including teachers, program leads, and leadership.
5. Participate in and contribute to the development of mental health training curriculum for urban refugee populations and subsequent trainings.
6. Provide tele-counseling services to community members and support the development of e-counseling techniques and tools.
7. Assist with data collection on psychosocial activities, lead psychological assessments for clients, maintain records and databases with utmost integrity and confidentiality.
8. Assist with preparing all relevant reports regarding RefuSHE’s psychosocial activities.
9. Ensure timely implementation of psychosocial program activities. Participate in routine departmental work plan reviews and revisions.
10. Compile monthly and quarterly counseling reports on the referred cases and provide best solutions to cases.
11. Undertake referrals internally and to partner organizations as appropriate.
12. Analyze the behavioral trends and patterns of the referred cases.
13. Perform any other lawful duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in counselling/clinical psychology from a recognized and reputable institution is required; Master’s Degree is a plus.
• 3 to 5 years of counseling experience, preferably with vulnerable populations
• Experience leading trainings on mental health topics to non-professionals and/or community members
• Strong understanding of the neuroscience of trauma, and how traumatic experiences affect the mind and body in the short and long term.
• Experience working with refugees, conflict and post-conflict communities is an added advantage.
• Proficient in program monitoring and reporting, such as data collection, writing, etc.
• High degree of professional integrity and commitment to confidentiality
• Active member of a recognized professional body is a must
• Ability to remain flexible in a dynamic environment.
• Proactive, passionate and eager to increase the reach of mental health services to marginalized and disadvantaged populations.
