About the role
The Project Portfolio Manager will be a member of BFA Global’s Project Management Unit (PMU) and will be responsible for project management activities related to BFA Global’s portfolio of projects. They will be responsible for overseeing the planning, development, and implementation of project efforts that utilize information technology solutions, principles, standards, and best practices. The Project Portfolio Manager will maintain existing project management standards and procedures while managing the Projects with various stakeholders and develop and establish new ones as needed. The Project Portfolio Manager will report to the Managing Principal Consultant at BFA Global.
The key responsibility of the Project Portfolio Manager is to support Project Leads and Project Managers with active Projects to ensure their projects complete on time and on budget. The Project Portfolio Manager will be responsible for the business analysis, reviewing budgets and forecasting staff bookings while minimizing risk and managing expectations.

What You Will Do
As a Project Portfolio Manager at BFA Global, you will:
• Manage Project Budget, Forecasting with tracking milestones and ensure overall project management compliance
• Identify staffing needs for projects with Project Managers to balance the availability of the required skills and competencies across project and program teams within the project portfolio
• Work with project teams to manage the full project life cycle (initiate, plan, execute, close)
• Conduct regular reviews with Project Managers and the Management Team to validate and assess the project portfolio, execute change, and re-prioritize to meet business needs as required
• Manage the contracting process for projects, subcontractors and other counterparts, ensuring quality and compliance
• Act as the intermediary between internal and external stakeholders to resolve project management tasks
• Lead reviews of any significant initiatives, projects or programs that are challenged and provide recommendations as to whether it should continue, be significantly changed, placed on hold or discontinued
• Ensure that all BFAers maintain the necessary level of familiarity with project management responsibilities, consistent with their roles and job responsibilities
• Regularly review metrics from BFA Global’s in-house suite of trackers to ensure efficient functioning of our project operations
• Troubleshoot issues and field queries related to project management
• Work closely with the Finance team on revenue recognition, revenue projection, contracts and invoices
• Maintain a minimum service level in terms of turnaround time and overall satisfaction

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the position must have the following qualifications:
• At least 5+ years in an experienced role as a senior project management professional responsible for a portfolio of projects. Experience within the inclusive finance field, ideally in one or more of financial inclusion, digital financial services, inclusive fintech, livelihoods, and microenterprise is a plus
• Deep familiarity with project management best practices
• Familiarity with accounting principles, especially US-GAAP, as they pertain to project management
• Proficiency in Excel and/or Google Sheets
• Empathy and a service-oriented mindset
• Creative problem-solving ability to find reasonable solutions to challenges that arise from delivering projects globally leveraging a dispersed team
• Capacity to mentor all successive roles
• Comfort working with a geographically dispersed team
• Clear, concise, and polished communication skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, Proficiency in Spanish is a plus
