JOB DETAILS:
Role Purpose:
• The Emergency Health Unit (EHU) has a field hospital team. The team is looking for a project officer to support in the administration and implementation activities for the next year. The key activities centre around the World Health Organisation (WHO) Emergency Medical Team (EMT) accreditation that the team are in the process of. As part of the process this will involve supporting the team in standard operating procedure development and editing, procurement of outstanding field hospital equipment and supply chain agreements in place for medical commodities. The person for this role will have a strong attention to detail to support in the final year of the process and ensure all activities are achieved to the highest quality. This will involve strong editing and grammar experience in written English as well as good Excel knowledge to support in the tracking system as well as ability to pick up new systems to take on key responsibilities amongst the team. In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.
This role is a great opportunity for someone who has great attention to detail, and is interested in expanding their knowledge of the humanitarian sector and emergency medical teams within that.
Experience And Skills
Essential:
• Excellent written and grammar skills, fluent in English
• Excellent attention in document editing
• Proven ability to design and show processes in a flowchart format
• Experience successfully coordinating project activities across multiple teams
• Ability to resolve issues swiftly and escalate as needed whilst safeguarding standards and procedures
• Cultural awareness and experience of delivering solutions internationally
• Ability to liaise effectively with a broad range of people at all levels, across different cultures and to act with credibility, discretion, tact and diplomacy both within and without the organisation.
• Sound judgement and an ability to effectively prioritise multiple tasks in a constantly changing environment
• Ability to adopt a pro-active approach and offer solutions as appropriate
• Possessing a calm disposition and positive outlook particularly when working under pressure
• Self- motivated with ability to work autonomously
• Experience of planning and organising meetings and events, with a strong attention to detail
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), particularly word and excel
Desirable:
• Previous experience of working with Save the Children and their policies and processes
• Experience of working in a humanitarian/development or healthcare setting including lower income country settings
• Knowledge of ensuring alignment to humanitarian and UN processes
• Proficiency in a second core language of Save the Children (French, Spanish, Portuguese or Arabic
