Requirements for Appointment
• Fluent in English and in written and spoken local languages in Tharaka Nithi County
• A post graduate degree holder in early childhood development education or development studies and demonstrate experience in managing projects/programs.
• Well-experienced with demonstrated success in project management, stakeholder coordination and partner communication.
• Committed to the value of research to inform the effective design of education or other socially-motivated interventions (direct experience with field research projects, including knowledge of randomized controlled trials, will be highly valued)
• Available for the duration of the project from June 2023 to June 2026
Duties and Responsibilities
The terms of reference will be:
• Developing the project implementation plan and scheduling of activities to support a randomized control trial (RCT) research project that will design, test and measure the impact of an innovative model for childcare provision that emphasizes child development and economic participation for women in a cost-effective manner.
• Understand everyone’s roles and responsibilities and the timelines of their activities in the RCT project for implementation.
• Formulate how the project trajectory looks like from start to end and coordinate all activities amongst the partners (research teams at Kenyatta University, Yale University and Busara Center for Behavioral Economics), keeping them in check to meet established project schedules in a timely manner and within budget and follow all required aspects of the specified RCT research design.
• Reporting to stakeholders and project partners from KU, Yale and Busara on the progress of the RCT project
• Schedule field visits to check on project progress.
• Work with each stakeholder to monitor project budget and ensure that project activities are running on budget
• Coordinate mapping of households with children who will turn three years in January 2024 and potentially other cohorts, as established
• Coordinate development of locally available teaching learning materials with the research teams
• Managing and coordinating assessment of the children and mothers at the end of each project phase
• Provide up to date communication of all activities that need to be done and report on progress daily through various communicationchannels and also give weekly check-in reports.
• Organize and participate in sensitization and validation workshops, per the specifications of the research team

Successful applicants are expected to get clearance from the following bodies.
• Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
• Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)
• Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
• Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)
• Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI)
• For those with higher education certificates (degrees) from outside Kenya, a letter of recognition of qualifications from the Commission of University Education.
