JOB DETAILS:
This is an entry level position. The Project Accountant will be responsible for all accounting aspects pertaining to the assigned project.
Reporting to: Senior Accountant .

Key Responsibilities
We are looking for an ambitious Project Accountant to provide support to the financial department by managing daily accounting tasks. You will be part of a team of professionals working to maintain order and transparency for the company’s finances.
Preparing financial statements and reporting are a large part of the Project accountant’s day-to-day work. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in accounting principles and able to work comfortably with numbers and attention to detail.
The goal is to contribute to the overall efficient operation of the department and help the company be fully aware of its financial condition. This way it can make the right decisions and accomplish long term success.
Specific Duties:
• Create project accounts in the accounting system
• Maintain project-related records, including contracts and change orders
• Authorize the transfer of expenses into and out of project-related accounts
• Review and approve supplier invoices related to the project
• Review and approve time sheets for work related to the project
• Review and approve overhead charges to be applied to a project
• Review account totals related to project assets and expenses
• Investigate project variances and submit variance reports to management
• Report on project profitability to management
• Report to management on any opportunities for additional billings
• Report to management regarding the remaining funding available pertaining to the project
• Close out project accounts upon project completion
• Create and submit government reports and tax returns related to the project
• Compile information for internal and external auditors, as required
• Processing of casual wages

Skills and Attributes
• Self-motivated and ability to work within deadlines with high organizational skills
• Experience in carrying out audits
• Self-driven, team player, willing to work extra ordinary time/hours.

Academic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance, economics or related

Professional Qualifications
• Be a member of relevant professional body.

Experience
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar capacity.
