DEPARTMENT OF NUTRITION SERVICES

Requirements for Appointment
• Served in the grade of Chief Nutrition and Dietetics Officer for a minimum period of three (3) years;
• Bachelor’s Degree in the following disciplines: Foods, Nutrition and Dietetics, Dietetics/Clinical Nutrition, Food Science, Food Science and Nutrition or Home Economics from a recognized Institution;
• Certificate in Senior Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
• Registration by Council of the Institute of Nutritionist and Dieticians (CIND);
• Must have a valid practicing license from the Kenya Nutritionist and Dieticians Institute (KNDI);
• Certificate in Computer application skills from a recognized institution; and
• Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Initiating and reviewing nutrition programs;
• Providing guidelines on supplemental and therapeutic for existing and emerging diseases for Hospital use and other Institutions;
• Developing nutrition information, education, promotion and communication materials;
• Providing nutrition consultancy support;
• Developing specialized diets for special needs;
• Proving nutrition services in specialized clinics;
• Supporting inpatient and out-patient management;
• Planning and preparing hospitals menus;
• Facilitating training in various training institutions;
• Conducting, monitoring and evaluating infant and young child feeding programs;
• Conducting research on nutrition on dietetics and preparing reports;
• Developing nutrition guidelines;
• Conducting data audits in the community and hospitals; and
• Guiding on procurement and distribution of nutrition equipment and commodities
