Principal Legal Officer
Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities will entail:- preparing and reviewing legal documents/instruments; preparing legal opinions; drafting legal documents, leases and contracts; preparing legal briefs and opinions; undertaking research on specific legal areas; identifying issues and areas for policy formulation and review; ensuring compliance with the policy, legal requirements and provisions in all the undertakings of the Agency; advising the Agency on all legal matters; representing the Agency in litigations and other legal matters; safeguarding the interest of the Agency in all legal matters; liaising with the Office of the Attorney General on legal matters; coordinating the implementation of the Units work plans and performance management; and ensuring safe custody of Agency’s legal documents and records.
Requirements for Appointments
For appointment to this grade, an Officer must:-

- Have minimum period eight of (8) years relevant work experience three (3) of which should have been at the level of Senior Officer;
- Have Bachelors degree in Laws (LLB) from a recognized institution;
- Have Masters degree in Laws from a recognized institution;
- Have Postgraduate diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law;
- Have Certificate in Management Course from a recognized institution;
- Be registered with a professional body;
- Be proficient in computer applications; and
- Have demonstrated managerial, administrative and professional competence in work performance and results;
- Fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
