Principal Laboratory Technician Grade, KIP 7
VACANCY No. KIP/PLT7/2025
For appointment to this grade, an Officer MUST have:
- At least eight (8) years relevant work experience;
- Diploma in any of the following fields: Medical Laboratory Sciences, Laboratory Sciences, Laboratory Technology, Medical Laboratory Technology or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution;
- Registration Certificate issued by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB) where applicable;
- Valid practicing license from Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board where applicable;
- Proficiency in computer applications;
- Demonstrated work performance and results;
- Fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.

Duties and responsibilities
- Implementing laboratory standards and procedures;
- Supervising and guiding laboratory technicians, interns and students;
- Collecting, receiving, processing and storing of sample to ensure integrity for future use;
- Maintaining laboratory equipment for smooth running of the procedures;
- Ensuring clean and safe working environment to avoid contamination of final products;
- Designing and develop the necessary laboratory infrastructure needed for biobanking
- Performing biobanking activities
- Preparing and storing laboratory reagents;
- Maintain records of tests and samples;
- Supporting field research activities
- Ensure compliance to regulatory requirements and licensure;
- Performing analytical and diagnostic procedures in the laboratory to contribute to efficiency in service delivery;
- and ensuring that all laboratory waste is disinfected and disposed appropriately to avoid environmental contamination.
