Job specifications
Duties and responsibilities will include but not limited to: -
• Ensuring integration of education for sustainable development (ESD) into formal and non-formal education;
• Coordinating capacity building and ensuring optimum participation of the Kenyan public in ESD activities;
• Promoting Public Awareness on ESD policy through non-formal education, public information and campaigns;
• Ensuring development of ESD, information, education and communication (IEC) material;
• Disseminating ESD information through manuals, codes and articles;
• Preparing exhibitions on ESD and other environmental best practices;
• Liaising with other lead agencies to ensure ESD policy is implemented;
• Ensuring ESD material is available in the library for users;
• Exchanging ESD information with national and international agencies and institutions
Requirements for appointment:
For appointment to this position, a candidate must have:
• Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following fields: Environmental Education, Environmental Sciences; Education; Natural Resources Management; Sociology, Community Development, or any other relevant field from a recognized institution;
• Master’s Degree in any of the following fields: Environmental Education, Environmental Law; Environmental Policy; Education; Environmental Sciences; Natural Resources Management; Sociology, Community Development, Development Studies or any other relevant field from a recognized institution;
• A minimum period of eight (8) years relevant work experience and at least three (3) years in a supervisory role in the Public Service or Private Sector;
• Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
• Proficiency in computer applications;
• Good Communication skills;
• Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the constitution and;
• Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
