Job Description
Terms of service: Permanent and pensionable.

Reporting to the Manager, Seed Production.

Duties and responsibilities of this position will include:

• Identification and Recruitment of seed growers to achieve set seed production targets.
• Coordinate distribution of basic seed to all contracted farms and approved seed growers.
• Coordination of farm operations with seed growers to optimize yields.
• Coordinate timely inspection of crops and advising farmers at various stages in accordance with best agronomic practices.
• Ensure registration of seed crops with KEPHIS.
• Collection and compiling of seed production data.
• Prepare periodic work progress reports.
• Supervising seed harvesting and delivery to the processing plant.
• Advising on key issues that impact the production function in the zone.
• Assist in preparation of annual unit and departmental budgets
• Assist in preparation of departmental work and procurement plan

Minimum requirements
Requirements for Appointment.
For appointment to this grade, one must have:

• Bachelor degree in Agriculture, Horticulture or equivalent qualifications;
• A minimum period of eight (8) years in relevant work experience and at least three (3) years in supervisory role in a position in the Public Service or Private Sector.
• Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
• Membership in good standing to any professional body
• Proficiency in computer applications
• Good communication skills
• Ability to work in stressful and strenuous environment.
• Ability to work in a multicultural environment.
• iMust have valid driving license.
• Fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution

Job Description
Terms of service: Permanent and pensionable.

Reporting to the Seed Quality Assurance Manager.

Duties and responsibilities will include:

• To carry out authorized seed field inspections, seed processing inspections, seed sampling, labelling and sealing as per the seeds and plant varieties (seeds) regulations and authorization guidelines.
• Implement Pre/Post-Control activities for the Company’s products.
• Collaborate with Production officers and Breeders in detection of varietal off-types in both basic and certified seed production and devise/implement/appraise programs to continuously improve seed quality along the value chain.
• Liaise with all Production Units of the Company to train Seed Growers on seed crop field standards.
• Coordinate drawing pre-harvest samples and testing to determine physiological maturity of seed and advising harvesting programs.
• Collaborate with relevant agencies and implement programs to eradicate counterfeits seed products.
• Spearhead strategies that will enable the company to implement OECD seed schemes and undertake authorized seed certification programs.
• Coordinate the implementation of validation and calibration programs of all Company weighing and measuring equipment.
• Coordinate pricing, quotations, and invoicing for seed inspection activities.
• Prepare work plans and periodic work progress reports.

• Bachelors Degree in Seed Technology, Botany, Biochemistry, Applied Biology qualifications from a recognized institution; or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.
• At least eight (8) years relevant work experience in Public Service or Private Sector;
• Membership to relevant professional body.
• Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution Problem-solving and decision-making abilities;
• Analytical skills
• The ability to work under pressure;
• Good communication and presentation skills;
