JOB DETAILS:
Brief Description
Reporting to the Manager – Operation Support Systems, the position holder will be responsible for the end-to-end support for all OSS monitoring and probing systems and access management for OSS systems. The responsibility shall but will not be limited to support for network Management systems, Umbrella Systems, Network Probing and Customer management systems and access management.

Job Responsibilities
• Providing end to end proactive monitoring of operations support systems and maintenance, including managing level two and level three incident and problem management and optimizing the business outcome.
• Developing and executing automation scripts and maintenance jobs
• Implement proactive measures to ensure system uptime of implemented systems.
• Retire legacy systems and drive usage of new systems.
• Ensure system and service availability for all OSS systems.
• Ensure all faults reported are resolved within agreed timelines.
• Document resolutions and resolve tickets.
• Follow up with the vendor or 3rd parties to ensure all escalated tickets are resolved on time.
• Implementing changes on all OSS systems
• Participate in implementation and support of all OSS projects.
• Ensure all new systems meet Safaricom standards.
• Ensure any new vulnerabilities identified within OSS systems are fixed.
• Assist Internal and External auditors while auditing OSS systems.
• Implement user access controls on all OSS systems.
• Implementation and Monitoring of capacity on probes, SoC and CEM systems
• System administration of OSS Systems
• Monitor systems capacity utilizations, Backup/Restore and BCPs
• Lead regular vendor support review meetings.
• Ensure systems and probes capacity is monitored.
• Support customer care users on SMS escalation tools
• Maintaining an Asset register for both IT and Telco
• AI Native capabilities – predictive/proactive/cognitive maintenance
• Developing and maintaining cloud solutions in accordance with best practices.
• Develop and implement data pipelines that extracts, transforms and loads data into an information product that helps to inform the organization in reaching strategic goals
• Work on ingesting, storing, processing and analyzing large data sets
• Create scalable and high-performance web services for tracking data
• Translate complex technical and functional requirements into detailed designs

Qualifications - External
• Degree in Computer Science/Telecom engineering /electrical& electronics engineering/IT
• Minimum of 2 years working experience in a busy heterogeneous IT environment, of which 1 year should be in a GSM environment, working knowledge of LAN/WAN principles, working knowledge of Linux, databases, IoT, NFV and SDN, Big data, Microservices, Restful Open APIs, Android, IoS, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, NoSQL, XML, JSON, YAML, Perl/Python, bash Scripting and Java/C#
• Should demonstrate proficiency in Data Cleaning, Data analytical and presentation skills.
• Machine learning and AI skills
• Knowledge of working with python, Java, VB.NET or C#.
• Knowledge of visualization tools e.g. PowerBI, Tableu, Qlik Sense, etc
• Microservices architecture
• Working knowledge of Big data systems , SQL and NoSQL database management systems with strength in MySQL, Oracle, Sybase, PostgreSQL, MongoDB.
