Nutrition Officer
The Opportunity

Save the Children International Kenya Country, office has an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as Nutrition Officer.The Nutrition Officer will be responsible for day-to-day implementation of nutrition interventions in the emergency programme. The role holder will play a critical role in the scale up of IMAM services, BFHI and IMAM surge model as well promotion of optimum maternal, infant and young child practices at community level. S/he will work closely with the county health department and the local partner to strengthen health system support for improved quality of care. In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.
Location: Wajir and Garissa

Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor degree in BSC Nutrition, food security or related field.
• Qualified nutritionist registered with KNDI
• At least 3 years of relevant professional work experience in Nutrition Programming.
• Good understanding of the MOH and county health departments, particularly integration of donor funded programmes into county plans.
• Effective working relationships with stakeholders from government agencies, international organisations, donors, academics and opinion-leaders.
• Experience in training and capacity building.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide array of organizations
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Good knowledge of the nutrition and health field.
• Good presentation and persuasion skills.
• Commitment to SCI Values.
• Strong results orientation, with the ability to challenge existing mind-sets.
• Experience solving complex issues through analysis, definition of a clear way forward and ensuring buy-in.
• Ability to present complex information in a succinct and compelling manner.
• Fluency in English, both verbal and written, required. Understanding of local language will be added advantage.
• Commitment to Save the Children values, including willingness to abide by and enforce the Child Safeguarding policy.
