About the role
The initial focus of this position (~60% of your time) is to join the Triple Line team providing monitoring, evaluation and learning support to a large multinational Foundation and their delivery partners in Kenya working on employment creation, financial inclusion, MSME development and agricultural programmes. The Monitoring and Data Specialist will be responsible for overseeing all data quality and quarterly impact reporting processes, collating partner information (including learning insights) into a central source (including database development and maintenance) and producing dashboards/analysis of portfolio trends as required. You will also be expected to contribute to broader thematic reviews, learning papers and evaluations – especially those that require primary data collection, where you will contribute towards survey design and analysis.
In addition to this exciting client-facing delivery role you will also be a valuable team member of the growing Triple Line team in Kenya and the Inclusive Growth & Resilience technical team that spans all offices, working on business development and project delivery. As a member of the private sector development (PSD) team, we are looking for someone who is passionate about supporting the role of the private sector and markets in creating jobs, increasing incomes, and providing critical goods and services to poor and disadvantaged people in the developing world.

Responsibilities
Project Delivery & Technical Input
The candidate’s primary responsibility for at least the first 12 months will be as the Portfolio Monitoring and Data Specialist on the recently initiated monitoring and evaluation project based in Nairobi, but you will also be working on other projects within the Private Sector Development field.
In this position we would expect the following tasks and activities:
• Work at programme/fund level to oversee all data quality and quarterly impact reporting processes, including providing technical advice on how to improve reporting feedback, and verification / checking of data,
• Developing a framework for collating partner information (including learning insights) into a central database (including database development and maintenance) and utilising this data to produce dashboards/analysis of portfolio trends as required.
• Support in the preparation, design and facilitation of client and grantee workshops, capacity building and learning events;
• Participating in thematic reviews and learning papers by providing insights from the portfolio, participating in primary data collection (including survey design, focus groups and site visits), and creative analysis and presentation of data;
• Support the dissemination and uptake of findings through clearly written reports, case studies and presentations to clients and other stakeholders;
• Involvement in a range of research, design, and evaluation consultancies in the private sector development field, including methodology development, theory of change and results framework design, design and testing of data gathering tools, collection of quantitative and qualitative data, and data synthesis and analysis;
• Support the effective management of projects to ensure that they are delivered by the team on time, to budget and to required quality standard; and
• Maintain effective and professional working relationships with clients and other project stakeholders. 
Business Development
• Support business development by preparing capability statements, references, and drafting inputs for expressions of interest and technical and financial proposals, working closely with colleagues across the Triple Line group. 
• Proactively develop client relationships and look for opportunities for follow on work with existing clients.
• Contribute to increasing the visibility of Triple Line through attending conferences, networking, producing lesson learning materials, articles, and/or publications, and supporting Triple Line hosted events, etc. in order to promote the high quality of our services and expertise, develop reputation and attract new clients.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
• 5-7 years’ experience in a technical, hands-on quantitative M&E role
• Experience working within the development or humanitarian sector in Kenya
• Knowledge of data analysis tools and method typically used within M&E, for example working with standardised indicators and results frameworks
• Experience in collating and analysing reporting data from multiple sources, verifying results (including through beneficiary engagement, and producing analytical reports
• Excellent standard of written and spoken English, with demonstrated experience in producing high quality technical reports
• A University degree in a relevant academic discipline, for example, economics, finance, business analytics
• A high degree of initiative and problem-solving skills, with the ability to plan, prioritise and manage workload effectively and independently
• Experience using statistical packages (e.g. Stata / R) and advanced proficiency in Excel.
• Right to live and work in Kenya
Desirable
• Including 2+ years of M&E experience specifically related to private sector development i.e. employment creation, MSME development and/or agriculture.
• Experience of working with, or for, an international consultancy firm, and experience working in the east African region
• Experience in evaluation and survey design
• Experience in learning and insight generation as part of a MEL framework
• Demonstrable experience of facilitating workshops and/or giving presentations
• Postgraduate qualifications or diplomas in a relevant academic discipline, including in impact evaluation, or economics
• Proficiency in the MS Office suite (e.g. MS Word, MS PowerPoint, Excel)
• Evidence of data visualisation skills and experience in creating infographics
• Fluent in Swahili
