Medical Officer, Utawala

Job Description
Responsible to the Clinical Director, the medical officer will provide personal, family and community orientated comprehensive primary and secondary health care services to individuals and ensure providing patient-centred, culturally appropriate, and individual holistic care to both in and out patient .

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Conducting wards round along with resident doctors or clinical officers and nurse & monitoring the admitted patients.
2. Ensure all inpatients are reviewed and a daily ward round done.
3. Ensure all inpatients are reviewed and a daily ward round done.
4. Strictly adhering to the medical ethics & management rules & regulations.
5. Ensures high cleanliness standards are maintained in the department.
6. Ensures all services rendered are paid for and an official receipt obtained.
7. Ensures high accuracy on prescriptions.
8. Ensures confidentiality of patients’ records.
9. Provide patient care essential to radiographic procedures, recognizing emergency patient conditions and, if necessary, initiating lifesaving first aid.
10. Ensures correct diagnosis is ascertained on patients.
11. Must have good morals and relations with both staff and patients.
12. Reports all incidents to the hospital authorities.
13. Safeguards hospital assets and equipment in his department.
14. Coordinate all referrals in and out.
15. Coordinating and management of OPD and Emergency Services.
16. Reviewing patients’ treatment sheets and ensuring all treatments are given as scheduled.
17. Answerable directly to the CEO and Clinical Director on clinical matters.
18. Manage and coordinate specialist clinics.
19. Organise and conduct CME’s..
20. Takes charge of mortality reviews..
21. Any other duty as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Education + Experience
1. Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from a recognized college/University
2. Valid practising licence with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board.
3. At least two (2) years’ work experience in a busy Hospital

Experience in Months: 24

Level of Education: Bachelor Degree
