Manager, Internal Audit

Job Specification
The applicant must demonstrate evidence of the following qualifications:
• Minimum 9 years of work experience and have served in the grade of AssistantManager, Internal Audit or a comparable position for a minimum period of three(3) years;
• Previous experience in auditing in the Public Sector;
• Masters’ Degree in either Finance, Accounting or any related area of study from arecognized institution;
• Bachelors’ Degree in Commerce or Business Administration (Finance or Accountingoption) or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
• Holder of CPA (K);
• Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or its equivalent;
• Certificate in Senior Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
• Be a member of the Institute of Certified Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) or a member of Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) in good standing;
• Fulfill the requirements of Chapter six of the Constitution; and
• Have demonstrated outstanding professional competence in Audit work as reflected in work performance.

Responsibilities
• Formulate and oversee the implementation of sound internal audit policies, strategies, plans and systems in the Board;
• Oversee the development and implementation of fraud investigation strategy;
• Monitor compliance to the Government policies, laws and regulations and adherence to laid down financial rules and regulations;
• Oversee the implementation of risk assessment framework;
• Formulate, develop and review audit techniques and procedures and internal controls in accordance with auditing standards;
• Oversee audit checks and verification of payments to ensure validity and accuracy;
• Coordinate audit activities being undertaken by External Auditors;
• Lead in undertaking spot-check and special audit investigations as may be required from time to time;
• Supervise risk assessment exercises and implementation of risk management guidelines;
• Coordinate post audit reviews;
• Lead in the conduction of special audits & investigations;
• Lead in the follow up on audit queries raised;
• Review and approve the purpose, scope and audit methodology for each audit assignment;
• Reports on implementation of annual audit workplans to the Audit Committee;
• Provides Secretariat Services to the Audit Committee;
• Train and develop audit staff
