Job Summary
• The Manager, Finance will Support the Senior Manager, Reporting and Financial Controller with their responsibility and accountability for financial reporting, project management, investor relations, governance and regional requests on the Bank’s performance metrics and industry analysis.
Responsibilities
Statutory and Regulatory Reporting
• Support preparation of financial reports and regulatory returns for the Bank and submit timely and accurate financial returns which have been prepared in compliance with accounting policies and regulatory requirements.
• Lead the preparation of subsidiaries financial reports for Group, Regulatory and Board reporting in conformity with IFRS, Regulatory and Group requirements.
• Respond effectively to any queries which may arise.
• Lead on Group led Finance system implementation projects and local automation projects.
• Support/coordinate the preparation of the annual reports for the Bank and its subsidiaries within the agreed timelines.
• Provide support and coordination to the external audit team during reviews and audit.
• Provide support to the Central Bank audit team during inspections.
General Ledger Administration
• Monitor the application of the chart of accounts
• Ensure that only authorised adjustments are passed into the GL and review reconciliation between the GL and transaction processing systems.
Finance
• Adherence to annual review and approvals of documents that require periodic review.
• Assist in preparation and submission of the annual budget and corporate plan, along with detailed analysis and insightful commentaries.
• Provide support in the preparation of the annual ICAAP.
• Support the CFO and Financial Controller in the completion of Board, Regional requests.
Strategy
• Awareness of the Group strategy.
• Contribute to the formulation and communication of the Country’s strategy and Finance strategy.
• Prepare competitive positioning insights for Management Team and Board.
Processes
• Support the continual simplification of the end-to-end annual report production process to facilitate and achieve efficiency gains
• Provide practical feedback on the Operational Risk Framework with a view to strengthen control robustness and minimise operational risks.
• Contribute to the flawless delivery of external events such as full year results announcements, quarterly results release, press releases, etc., ensuring compliance with existing regulations and internal policies.
• Lead the standardisation of processes and constantly looking for ways to improve the way we work.
People & Talent
• Lead self by example and embrace the Bank’s values/culture
• Build deep relationships internally to ensure effective delivery of the Finance objectives and strategy.
• Deliver through working proactively with others in the team and cross functionally.
• Coach junior team members to elevate reporting, analytics and business writing skills.
Risk Management
• Identifying, assessing, monitoring, controlling and mitigating risks related to reporting processes.
• Perform balance sheet substantiation of key balance sheet accounts assigned.
• Compliance with the Financial Control Substantiation and Reconciliation Policy, Accounting policies and Financial Regulatory Reporting Policy
• Support the Senior Manager, Reporting to ensure that any audit action points relating to financial controls are implemented in full and on time.
Governance
• Support the preparation and timely submission of Board papers
• Support the quarterly results release, analysts/investor briefing, and AGM
Regulatory & Business Conduct
• Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
• Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
• Support the Financial team to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank’s Conduct Principles.
• Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
Qualifications
• University level qualification from a reputable institution.
• ICPAK/ACCA member in good standing is a mandatory requirement.
• Minimum 5 years’ working experience in a demanding Finance function preferably financial services or audit & assurance.
