JOB DETAILS:
Client: A US- based non-profit organization based in Nakuru County

JOB SUMMARY
The candidate will report to the Director of Administration and will serve as liaison between the local community and the organization.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 Develop, implement and evaluate multiple community development Initiatives.
 Conduct research into available grants, write proposals and submit them to the appropriate organizations.
 In collaboration with the Director of Administration (DOA) actively seek and pursue opportunities to raise funds within Kenya, from organizations, private companies and individual donors.
 Weekly communication and reporting to DOA. This consists of a weekly face to face meetings and email communication.
 Prepare and distribute project reports for communication with appropriate donors to Maendeleo Initiatives
 Generate and publish appropriate reports on Maendeleo Initiatives and statistics.
 Specifically analyzing and completing the written report from the baseline survey conducted of the community in 2017.
 Initiate and oversee, with the Director of Administration, the development of agriculture
Initiatives on the organization. Create training Initiatives and budgets to educate the surrounding community
 Identify other community development Initiatives in Kenya demonstrating a successful track record, develop relationships with them and network to maximize success of both the organization and the partners involved
 Create in concert with the Director of Administration a quarterly budget for the Maendeleo
Initiative following the organization’s guidelines.
 Development of quarterly report and work plan.
 Supervision of staff and ensuring proper constructive feedback, accountability
For following policies, job requirements, professional training and development, mentoring, and field evaluations to assess performance.
 Participate in a timely and professional manner in all necessary disciplinary matters related to employees, including verbal and written warnings, suspensions, and termination when needed.
 Create mechanisms that allow for team building, staff motivation, and staff input/suggestions to be given and put into practice. Foster a culture that promotes hard work, integrity, and employee advancement and growth.
 Encourage thorough practical methods a research-based approach to providing the best care/services/resources to the people impacted by your Initiatives in the community.
 Provide a quarterly Initiative report updating the Director of Administration on all recent
Initiative milestones, challenges, income/expenses, and goals for the next quarter.
 Develop a qualitative assessment tool to get feedback from community stakeholders on the
effectiveness of your Initiatives.
 Provide a routine quarterly budget that includes itemized projections for salaries and
Wages, supplies, administrative costs and repairs and maintenance.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
 Bachelor of Arts in Community Development/Social sciences or a related field
 A Master’s degree in relevant field will be an added advantage.
 Minimum of Eight years of experience in community development

KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
 Experience coordinating complex or multiple Initiatives simultaneously, working with
Communities and local partners.
 Understanding of community conservation in Kenya.
 Experience in completing tasks independently and respecting timeline(s).
 Experience with managing conflict and complex negotiations.
 Ability to communicate effectively and maintaining close contact with multiple Audiences.
 Ability to prepare professional presentations and reports.
 Passionate about mobilizing communities towards transformation.
 Self-driven and geared towards achieving results.
 Excellent problem-solver
