JOB DETAILS:
The Kenya Law Reform Commission (the Commission) is established by the Kenya Law Reform Commission Act, No. 19 of 2013 (the Act). Presidential assent was given on 14 January 2013 and the Act came into force on 25th January 2013. The Commission has a statutory and ongoing role of reviewing all the law of Kenya to ensure that it is modernized, relevant and harmonized with the Constitution of Kenya. Following the promulgation of the Constitution in 2010, the Commission has an additional mandate of preparing new legislation to give effect to the Constitution. The third mandate is found in the County Governments Act, No. 17 of 2012 which requires the Commission to assist the county governments in the development of their laws.
JOB GRADE KLRC 7:
V/NO. 1/2020
Basic Salary Scale: Kshs. 61,105 - Kshs. 84,284 p.m.
Terms of Service: Permanent .
Duties and Responsibilities
This is the entry and training grade for this cadre.
Duties and responsibilities will entail:
• Undertaking legal research; preparing preliminary Bills; participating in stakeholder forums; responding to public enquires on various Laws; and collecting and compiling legal data.
Core Skills
In addition to the above requirements, the officer must have the following skills:-
• Resource management and mobilizing skills;
• Communication skills;
• Technical competency skills; and
• Inter-personal skills.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:-
• Bachelor’s degree in Laws (LLB) from a recognized institution;
• Postgraduate diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law; and
• Certificate in computer application skills.
