Analyst (Simulation Administration), Centre for Innovation in Medical Education

Job Summary

The main purpose of this role is to handle all administrative and operational tasks within the Centre for Innovation in Medical Education CIME. 

The Administration analyst will report to the Simulation Administration Specialist, and work with the team to develop the business aspects of the Centre and contribute to strategic and financial planning. 

Responsibilities

  • Handle day to day interdepartmental communication with university departments and externals
  • Ensure bookings and scheduled activities are shared across CIME
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with university departments and other stakeholders
  • Create credible and effective communication materials for and on behalf of CIME 
  • Continually assess service delivery, identify problems, and propose solutions
  • Guide support staff on task prioritization, upholding high quality service delivery within CIME
  • Create and maintain an effective documentation process for all CIME engagements
  • In conjunction with the CIME team in Karachi and other locations, continually review and update CIME policies and processes
  • Research and seek potential business engagements with external clients
  • Develop and execute proposals in conjunction with the team
  • Support Research writing through availing data and documentation
  • Participate and support equipment and process audits as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in a suitable field (Required)
  • Master’s Degree (Desirable)
  • Diploma in Project Management (Desirable)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in professional role in a similar capacity is preferred
  • Working experience within hospital, academic or research facility will be an added advantage
  • Proficiency in computer software packages (MS Office-Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent communication, report writing and team-working skills
  • Must demonstrate leadership capabilities with the ability to foster credibility and trust
  • Must be competent in the core simulation competencies identified for an Analyst in CIME
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines

 

Senior Instructor, School of Nursing & Midwifery 

The School is recruiting a suitably qualified and experienced academic nursing and midwifery faculty who will be based at SONAM’s campus in Nairobi, Kenya. The role offers excellent career development opportunities for faculty passionate about building clinical leadership and service delivery capacity within Kenya’s nursing and midwifery practice. The incumbent will be research active and will work well within a team possessing excellent teaching, learning and communication skills.   

Applicants must have credentials commensurate with appointment at the level of Lecturer with a strong academic research background and demonstrated experience in teaching, learning and communicating. Registration or eligibility for registration with the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) is required.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching and learning of courses within SONAM’s accredited nursing, midwifery and continuing professional development programmes
  • Utilize innovative pedagogies and digital technology to facilitate learning centered approach
  • Actively contribute to the body of nursing and midwifery knowledge through engaging in research, grant writing and publication 
  • Actively engage in clinical / professional practice within nursing & midwifery 
  • Provide support as faculty advisors to students enrolled in various programmes at SONAM in academic, professional and social welfare issues
  • Maintain own continuous professional development to enhance scholarship of teaching and learning, clinical expertise, research and leadership   
  • Contribute to the administration of academic programmes offered at SONAM as well as other administration duties as may be called upon
  • Work collaboratively with other AKU entities, partners and stakeholders 

Requirements

  • Must be a PhD holder
  • Must be registered with the Nursing Council of Kenya
  • Must have a valid practice license and Basic Life Support certification
  • Should have at least 4 years’ experience in higher education
  • Have at least four publication points as stipulated by the Commission of University Education (CUE)
  • Should possess excellent communication/interpersonal, organizational and counselling skills
  • Should be clinically active and competent

 

Editor (EU Covid Stories of Hope), Graduate School of Media and Communications

Job Summary

The main purpose of this role is to support the editorial process for the publication of the stories from field journalists on the EU grant. 

Responsibilities

  • Edit EU Stories of hope story-content (positive/solutions oriented for target audience, i.e. print multimedia stories or audio for local, community or international media house as per their prescribed style guide
  • Be responsible for fact checking, ethics and moral optics and ensure stories, of all formats are ready for publication
  • Understand carious media house content guideline and requirements 
  • Have a journalism/ media background to ensure that journalism ethics and morals are adhered to 
  • Stories submitted for review will be returned once edited within 48 hours of receipt
  • All stories being edited must keep the project coordinator in copy all levels of editing and collaboration

Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Film/Video sound production from an accredited institution
  • Familiarity with video and sound recording equipment (camera’s, microphones, lighting, etc.)
  • More than 2 years proven work in Videography, Editing and sound design
  • Proficiency with video editing software (Premier, Final Cut, Davinci, iMovie, etc.)
  • Advanced understanding of sound engineering (Audition, Audacity, Reaper, or others)
  • Demonstratable production ability through shared portfolio
  • Creativity and passion
  • Storytelling skills essential
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Demonstratable production work an asset
