Assistant Manager-Treasury Product Control Analyst

Purpose

The role holder is responsible for Product Validation, Profit/Loss as well as Balance sheet and internal reporting, analysis and controls on Foreign Exchange, Money Market, Equities, Fixed Income and Derivatives. The role is also expected to provide technical support to Treasury business, perform independent valuations on trading assets as part of the price verification analysis besides close day-to-day communication with the trading desk, support functions, and management.

Primary Responsibilities

The incumbent will report to Head-Treasury Middle office and will be responsible for:

P&L and Balance sheet substantiation - 80%

  • Daily Profit and Loss (PL) analysis and reporting.
  • Preparation of market commentaries to explain significant PL movements and events
  • Reconciliation of income statement and balance sheet to risk systems
  • Price verification and analysis to ensure pricing to fair value as required for mark-to-market accounting
  • Liaise with other areas internal and external of Finance to ensure consistent adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate resolution of issues with cross functional teams, including front office, market risk, and operations
  • Perform analysis for ad hoc requests regarding regulatory, valuation, margins, risk and operational concerns.
  • Perform control checks at transaction level.
  • Prepare Accounting events related to Product that the bank supports.
  • Focus on control for all Product Control deliverables.
  • Participate in systems enhancement and/or implementation.
  • Contribute to process improvements in Product Control function.
  • Perform daily, monthly, quarterly & annually additional Treasury checks impacting P & l & Balance sheet.

Monitoring trading activity - 20%

  • Circulate key daily, weekly & monthly MIS to senior management.
  • Ensure clean audit results from internal and external reviews.
  • Identify and drive process re-engineering and constantly challenge status quo for control improvement and process efficiency.
  • Be part of the team in delivering continuous improvements.
  • Develop/design appropriate reports to provide appropriate information which identifies the risk positions and profit and loss profile of Treasury.
  • Re-engineer existing Product control processes so as to capitalize on improved systems capability and functionality.

Person Specifications

Academic qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or international equivalent in Finance, Accounting or related field.
  • CPA or public accounting experience preferred
  • ACI Dealing/Settlement or Risk certified an added advantage.

Experience

  • 3 years exposure to Treasury environment.
  • Audit background will be an added advantage.
  • Conversant with General International accepted accounting practice.

Skills & attributes

  • Proficiency in system architecture and information management, all Microsoft Office suites, external market data services, emphasis on Excel as a functional analytical tool.
  • Ability to articulate, multi-task and defend viewpoint on issues and results of analysis.
  • Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals.

Assistant Manager -Compliance

PURPOSE:

The role is responsible for the Management of Money Laundering (ML) and Terrorist Financing (TF) risks. The role will deputize the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) and assist in ensuring that appropriate processes have been designed and implemented to manage and mitigate the ML/TF Risks.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Incumbent will report to Senior Manager Compliance and Money Laundering Reporting Officer and will be responsible for:

  • Responding to compliance questions/ queries from various stakeholders such as Business and Operation Teams and Correspondent Banks.
  • Providing subject matter expertise on various Bank projects and initiatives such as Onboarding and Monitoring systems.
  • Supporting in general compliance awareness, refresher and induction trainings on AML and CFT matters.
  • Closing of AML/CFT audit findings, Internal Audit and Independent reviews and liaising with other functions to ensure that AML related audit findings are satisfactorily closed.
  • Reviewing of system generated alerts escalated by AML analysts or any other escalations from first line.
  • Reviewing of suspicious transaction reports prepared by AML analysts for onward submission to the Financial Reporting Centre (FRC) on go AML platform.
  • Preparing monthly and quarterly reports for Management and supporting in preparation of Management and Board reports.
  • Being the lead on FATCA compliance by ensuring that various functions are informed of their responsibilities, due diligence is conducted on US indicia customers and necessary reports are filed with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
  • Supporting in preparation of Enterprise-wide ML/TF risk assessment on an annual basis.
  • Implementing a risk-based compliance monitoring programme from the Compliance Risk Management Plans.
  • Identifying and assessing the AML CFT/ Overall compliance and internal control risks and gaps associated with the bank’s activities.
  • Entrenching AML policies and ensuring that appropriate AML procedures are implemented effectively by the bank.
  • Making recommendations for the review of policies, procedures, and processes where necessary.
  • Conducting targeted reviews to assess compliance with internal policies, procedures and processes.
  • Raising awareness and providing training to bank staff on compliance policies.
  • Assisting in obtaining and updating the Anti-Money Laundering/ Know Your Customer (KYC) information from correspondent Banks as per the requirements of the prudential guidelines.
  • Assisting in the administration and reviewing of customer Risk Scoring, High risk customer Identification and KYC documentation oversight requirements.
  • Conducting Periodic Enhanced Due Diligence and reviewing of high-risk customers and relationships.
  • Handling other duties as assigned to assist with the effective administration of the AML and CFT Compliance Program.

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS

Academic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution.

 Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of working experience
  • Relevant financial institutional and compliance experience, with exposure to different financial institutional products and business operations.
  • Previous knowledge in conducting transaction monitoring reviews, deep dive investigations, Enhance Due Diligence, and reporting of suspicious activities.
  • Knowledge on the requirements of the Proceeds of Crime and Anti Money Laundering Act, Prevention of Terrorism Act and CBK prudential Guidelines.

Professional Experience

  • Certification in AML such as ACAMS.
