Deadline of this Job: 13 November 2022
The Role:
This role supports all ActionAid International countries to adopt good grant management and compliance practices. The role also works closely to support the Grants Compliance & Assurance Lead to improve global systems, practices, policies, and tools on grant compliance and cost recovery, including positioning ourselves to manage the increased compliance risk that comes with USAID and other high risk donor funding. Therefore, this role will be the key global standard setting advisor for the Federation on restricted funding grant management process and practice and will require the ability to influence and negotiate with other functional teams and senior stakeholders to encourage change management across the Federation as well as development of a strong capacity building and learning programme around grant management. This is a key priority role, given the increased levels of restricted income in the Federation. Bringing external best practice into the organisation will also be important.
This role will work to strengthen the financial sustainability across ActionAid International countries, by supporting the full embedding of cost recovery best practice tools and techniques. This is critical to ensure the Federation can deliver ambitious and transformative projects which transfer power to rights holders, whilst effectively ensuring all project costs are recovered for AA and our partners.
The role will work alongside the Contract Management System Operations and Data Manager to ensure that the Contract Management System and related Handbook are upgraded to capture best practice and processes around the raising and management of restricted funds, and ensure this is translated to improved global practices, policies, and tools on grant management for the Federation.

Deadline of this Job: 03 November 2022
The Role:
This role will support the development of ambitious progress on anti-racist public education globally, working in close dialogue with a transformative programme in Brazil. You will lead global advocacy on anti-racist public education, connecting with and drawing learning from around the world to influence global policies and practices. This will include engaging with UN Special Rapporteurs, with UNESCO’s Global Education Monitoring Report, and with processes to influence the post-2030 SDG agenda to make issues around racial equity in education a global priority. You will work in close partnership with the School of Education at the University of Bristol who are developing a database of anti-racist education initiatives and a roadmap for transformation. You will also connect closely with wider movements such as the Global Campaign for Education, Education International and the Global Student Forum.
Most importantly you will be connecting with the hugely ambitious transformative work of the SETA project in Brazil, which is working with black, indigenous and quilombo movements, together with the national education campaign, towards a shared vision of a Brazilian public education system built on the principles of racial and social justice where every young person can access their right to quality education. The team in Brazil aims to transform the public education ecosystem in Brazil and to institutionalise a racial equity approach in policy and practice, influencing wider societal attitudes, transforming data and monitoring, shifting government policies and practices, training managers and teachers and mobilising youth and students.
As a member of ActionAid’s Global Secretariat, which has formal fiduciary and legal responsibility for the overall grant, you will work closely with the team in Brazil to ensure full and effective accountability. As well as leading the global advocacy component of the project you will take responsibility for all aspects of grant compliance, working with the part-time Global Project Accountant to ensure reports and accounts on the full project are well maintained and submitted in a timely fashion.
