Assistant Manager Research, Strategy And Planning – Grade 4. 

Job Purpose

Reporting to Chief Strategy and Customer Experience Officer, the job holder will be responsible for co-ordinating the implementation of policies and procedures for efficient and effective Strategic Plan formulation, Research, Quality Management, Performance Contracting, Performance Management, Monitoring & Evaluation, Knowledge Management, Business Process Re-engineering, formulation and review of the Strategic Plan for the Board.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Managing direct reports in the performance of their roles;
  • Coordinating the development of the corporate strategy and monitoring its implementation;
  • Supporting senior management within the institution in implementing and monitoring adherence to strategy, procedures and policies;
  • Coordinating the Performance Contracting process in accordance with the annual guidelines;
  • Coordinating the alignment of the departmental budgets to the strategic plan;
  • Coordinating the Monitoring & Evaluation of all the institution’s programmes and projects;
  • Coordinating the Monitoring and Evaluating execution of the approved Corporate Performance Contract;
  • Coordinating the preparation and submission of progress reports to the Chief Strategy & Customer Experience Officer;
  • Developing and implementing research strategy and annual research plan;
  • Planning, designing, carrying out research/surveys and prepare reports;

Minimum Academic Qualifications:

  • A holder of a Bachelors Degree in Business studies, Management, Statistics, Finance, Accounting, Economics or any other relevant disciplines from a recognized university.
  • Master’s Degree in Social Sciences or any other relevant disciplines from a recognized university;
  • Member of a relevant professional body in good standing where applicable;
  • A minimum of 10 years’ relevant work experience of three (3) of which should be at management role in a comparable organization. 

Assistant Manager, Internal Audit – Grade 4

Job Purpose:

Reporting to the Head of Internal Audit, Risk Management & Compliance, the job holder will be responsible for coordinating conduct of various types of audits and reviews in accordance with International Standards for professional practice of Internal Auditing to promote efficiency and effective of operations, reliability and integrity of financial and operational information, safeguarding assets and to ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations, policies and procedures, standards and contracts for the Board

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating assurance on the management of the institutions loan records in excess of Ksh. 115 Billion since inception;
  • Coordinating operations of the audit section for effective service delivery;
  • Coordinating development and implementation of internal audit section policies and procedures to achieve the audit strategic objectives;
  • Coordinating development of the Audit section’s risk- based work plan to ensure timelines set are attained;
  • Managing individual engagements from planning to follow up by the direct reports to enable seamless completion of activities;
  • Coordinating implementation of approved annual audit plan by developing individual assignment work plans and allocating activities to appropriate resource and monitoring execution;
  • Mentoring and coaching staff in the Audit section for career growth and enhanced performance;
  • Coordinating preparation of audit reports for presentation to management and to the Audit, Risk Management and Compliance Committee of the Board and ensure implementation of arising recommendations;
  • Ensuring maintenance of ISO Standards and other quality standards implemented by the institution for the section to fulfil the mandate and align with best practice;
  • Coordinating the performance of investigations as necessary; 

Minimum Academic Qualifications:

  • A holder of a Bachelors’ Degree in a Business-related field of study from a recognized institution;
  • Master’s Degree in business related field from a recognized institution;
  • Certified Public Accountant Kenya (CPA (K))/Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) qualification;
  • Membership to a relevant professional body such as Institute of Certified Public Accountants (ICPAK) /ACCA; Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA), or Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).
  • A minimum of ten (10) years’ relevant work experience in Auditing with at least 3 years’ experience as an audit supervisor or a comparable position with similar

Senior Legal Officer, Litigation and Prosecutions - Grade 5

Job Purpose:

Reporting to Head of Legal Services and Corporation Secretary, the job holder will be responsible for formulating, reviewing, managing and monitoring statutory and legal policies and procedures relating to litigation, prosecution and alternative dispute resolution processes for the Board.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Formulating legal policies, standards, guidelines and procedures on litigation, delegated criminal prosecution and Alternative Dispute Resolution for efficient prosecutions;
  • Strengthening policy and law frameworks for prosecution and litigation for efficient service delivery;
  • Formulating litigation, prosecution and ADR strategies for systematic approach to prosecutions, litigation and ADR;
  • Coordinating investigations and supervising civil investigations for efficient evidence gathering;
  • Coordinating administration and supervision of delegated prosecutorial powers
  • Coordinating instituting and undertaking prosecution of criminal and civil matters;
  • Coordinating delegated prosecutions as donated by the Office of Director of Public Prosecutions for enforcement of sanctions under the Higher Education Loans Board Act, CAP 213A to enhance loan recovery;
  • Monitoring compliance with policies, standards and procedures to avoid sanctions and litigations;

Minimum Requirements

  • A holder of Bachelors’ degree in Law or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
  • Master’s Degree in Law or MBA from a recognized institution;
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience with a minimum of 3 years in supervisory position;
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Law from Kenya School of Law or its equivalent;
  • Advocate of the High Court of Kenya;
  • Valid practicing certificate;
  • Member in good standing of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK); and
  • Member in good standing of the Institute of Certified Secretaries (ICS).
