You will flex your project management skills in order to ensure that our Localization process runs effectively and efficiently.

As a Language Manager, you will lead Google language strategy and localization efforts across African languages using extensive localization experience, project management skills, and a linguistic skill set to directly lead and manage Swahili.

Responsibilities
• Form a critical part of the African Go-To-Market team with regional Marketing and Product to enable native language experiences for African users of Google products across the continent.
• Define and evolve Google's Language Strategy for Sub-Saharan Africa, spanning a number of priority languages and markets in Africa, taking into account input from users, linguists, stakeholders, and the tech industry trends.
• Develop a solid understanding of market language trends and user expectations for language quality across Sub-Saharan Africa through regular interactions with regional stakeholders, user studies, and engagement with the localization industry.
• Own quality for all content across a portfolio of Sub-Saharan African languages, including direct management of Swahili localization and language resources (i.e., Style Guide, Terminology) and indirect management of other priority Sub-Saharan African languages via a network of vendor linguists.

Minimum qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience as an Swahili language translator, localization specialist, linguist, copywriter, writer, or editor.
• Ability to speak and write in English and Swahili fluently.

Preferred qualifications:
• MBA, Master's degree, or equivalent program management experience.
• Experience within the creative, localization, journalism, public communications, or the online marketing/advertising industry.
• Experience in partner/stakeholder management while working across cross-functional teams and time-zones.
• Ability to manage multiple and diverse stakeholders across businesses and leadership levels.
• Excellent communication/presentation skills.
