Kenya Sign Language (KSL) Communication Technician/Instructor
In line with our commitment to providing quality, affordable education through world-class service delivery platforms, USIU-Africa is seeking to recruit suitable candidates for the position of Technician/Instructor in Kenya Sign Language (KSL) in the Department of Languages and Literature in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences.
Purpose:
The overall purpose of this the position of the KSL communication technician/instructor is to provide technical support for the faculty in charge of KSL short course. Those picked for this position are expected to experts and proficient in KSL to enable them participate in practical teaching sessions as technical personnel.
Key performance areas/Skills and Knowledge:
The communication technician/instructor must:
• Be a native or near native user of KSL;
• Have the ability to offer an authentic and enriching learning environment for those enrolled for the course based on ones’ prior experience;
• Have a high level of KSL proficiency - must be a fluent KSL user and has the ability to effectively teach KSL to hearing people;
• Be tech-savvy to be able to use technology in the class room;
• Be active, highly organized and motivated and be able to multi task.
Education and Work experience:
The candidate must be:
• Trained as a KSL communication technician/instructor;
• A native or native user of KSL;
• An experienced instructor - at least 10 years of proven teaching experience, and has been involved in training hearing people at both the basic and advanced levels.
