Kenya Agricultural Project Coordinator

The Anglican Diocese of Eldoret in partnership with The Mama Ada Foundation [MAF] seeks to employ a qualified Kenyan to organize. coordinate, support, and report on the implementation of its agricultural project activities with smallholder farmers in Uasin Gishu and Nandi counties. These activities include field demonstration plots, field days. trainings, field trips, group formation, and connecting to markets. The position will be based in Eldoret with frequent travel to and from the communities of project implementation. The expected start-date is December 2018. Salary will be competitive and negotiable. The position is fully funded for one year. but MAF is optimistic about securing additional resources to complete the initial 3-year pilot project.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant agriculture—related science.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience working with smallholder farmers in mixed—agricultural production systems.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to build rapport with smallholder farmers and to build linkages and alliances between smallholder farmers and diverse input service providers as well as buyers of agricultural products.
• Languages: fluent in English, Kiswahili and Kalinin.
• Proficient in computer use. Microsoft Office applications, e-mail. Internet, etc.
• Experience and demonstrated interest in identifying, adapting and using creative Information and Communication Technologies [ICTs] in support of smallholder farmers
