Position: KT Associate –Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL)
Reports To Team Leader, Quality Assurance and Resource Mobilization
Duty Station Kampala Uganda or Nakuru Kenya with EAC Travels COVID-19 conditions allowing

The Assignment :
The Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Associate (MEL-A) will provide support in designing and developing M&E systems for tracking Kilimo Trust implemented projects and track and report progress in delivering KT strategy as measured by the set Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). The Associate will provide technical assistance to KT Programs and projects; and analyse and disseminate metrics and results of program performance with internal and external audiences. Reporting to the Team Leader, Quality Assurance and Resources Mobilization, this position contributes to the achievement of timely and quality delivery of projects especially Kilimo Trust’s evidence-based tracking of KT interventions, documentation of program performance and impact, and its impact on Agribusiness Transformation in the EAC region.

Specific Responsibilities
• Contribute to Kilimo Trust quality programming and delivery of projects to all stakeholders.
• Provide technical assistance and support to KT Regional and country programs for design and implementation of M&E systems.
• Work with program teams to design research and evaluation activities, evaluate data quality, analyze data and assist in data interpretation.
• Work with project teams in making use of program and Project data to generate knowledge products for further synthesis and publication in peer-reviewed journals and submission for
• presentation at appropriate technical conferences in line with KT standards to increase it visibility nationally, regionally, and globally.
• Collaborate with and mentor Kilimo Trust staff to strengthen MEL capacity and generate high quality, timely, and informative program data, and reports for internal and external
• stakeholders (including donors) and the evidence base. This shall include ensuring that the
• integrity and relevance of data collected to support project achievements and suggesting timely adjustments to better serve project objectives and priorities.
• Work with Knowledge Management team to produce performance analytics of projects for use by KT leadership for decision making.
• Support country teams and KT Headquarters teams on the development of M&E
• plans/results, and support the coordination, design, and implementation of selected project evaluations, including baseline assessments, impact assessments, and special studies.
• In addition, design, and lead progress reviews of regional and country programsand projects
• Provide professional advice and inputs on M&E plans/results frameworks for proposals and other new business opportunities.
Provide quality assurance on planned measurements and M&E missions to project sites

Experience and Qualifications
a) University degree in a relevant field required pespecially in Agriculture, Agricultural
a) Sciences or Agricultural Economics or its equivalent.
b) A Post-graduate degree in Monitoring & Evaluation or related fields.
c) At least of five years of demonstrated experience in program monitoring, evaluation,
d) research, and learning.
e) Demonstrable skills and experience developing M&E tools, data analysis, data use, and assessments. This will include ICT tools and statistical data analysis packages.
f) Experience in designing and implementing field measurements/operations research and
g) other studies.
h) Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the application of Theories of Change, results/logical frameworks, and the development/implementation of learning agenda.
i) Excellent communication skills, with demonstrated ability to write technical reports in
j) English.
k) Experience in working in Agricultural value chains preferred.
i) Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity.
